Scooter Photo Scavenger Hunt Week 3: Scooter Poker!

Post by KRUSTYburger »

WEEEHOOO!!! I'm posting the scavenger hunt topic this week! It wasn't my idea tho, sotied gets credit for that. I know the suspense is about to make your brains explode, so here it is!!!
Out-of-town ScootLemont wrote:Week 3 Scavenger Hunt Subject
June 13th-19th
It’s time to get a little more creative. Scooter Poker!

2pts for A Pair Of Scooters (see rules below)
5pts for TWO Pair
7pts for 3 Of A Kind
9pts for Four Of A Kind
10pts for a Flush (5 scooters with something the same)
12pts for A Full House (2 scoots, with something in common in photo with 3 scoots with something in common)
+ 1pt for the first pic posted

RULES:
Ok… a pair is NOT just any two scooters… it has to be two of some type of scooter – two 125cc’s, two buddys, two red scooters, etc.
Same goes for two pair – four scooters but each pair must have a connection – two blue scooters & two vespas, etc)
3 of a kind & 4 of a kind work the same way.
A flush is 5 scoots that have something in common (not just they all have wheels) – 5 buddys, 5 125cc’s, 5 red scooters, etc.
A Full House is a PAIR and 3 Of A Kind.
Your full “poker hand” must be in a single photo.
Please explain your “poker hand” (yeah… if we see a photo of 3 red scoots, we will get it… but if you have 3 scoots that are together because they are all 150cc, tell us that)
NO scooter shop or rental place photos! (Each scoot must be individually owned)
As always, you can only submit one pic for scoring.

Thanks to “sotied” who sent me a suggestion that led to this.

Thanks to Krustyburger for posting this for me. I am still on vacation but will be back home on Wednesday so I will be checking up on this from my BlackBerry (if anyone needs a “ruling” I will wait until I am back in front of a full size PC monitor on Wednesday.) I will post up the point totals from last week when I am back

Please remember to include your point total with your pic when you post it.

I hope everyone has fun with this!
Also, all the original rules apply:
ScootLemont wrote:Rules (so far? post up or PM me if you think we should change them)
-A new photo subject added every Friday. Participants will have until the following Thursday to post their pic.
-Only one photo may be submitted by each member for each week?s subject. (but if you get a better pic later in the week, you can edit your original post & REPLACE your original pic with the better one, as long as it is up by Thursday)
-Old photos you have laying around can NOT be used- they must be NEW photos taken the week the photo subject was posted (we will just have to trust each other, play nice)
-PhotoShop submissions will result in negative points
-Points may or may not be awarded (we can see how it goes & how competitive everyone wants to get with this) and points may vary each week with the difficulty of the photo subject.

Good suggestion especially considering how many people on the forum and how many are participating. The subject needs to be common throughout the US.

dude you don't have to participate in every week. The plan is for this to go on all summer...there will be plenty of time.

Right christy,
I had lots of PM s Suggisting photographs with other scooters so I figured I woud do this one, which I will not be able to get.
I figured everyone would have a fire station and at least a little league baseball field in their town.

I promise that next week will be easy for everyone.

11 more weeks to go after this one.
Keep PM ing me your suggestions and thanks for playing!

Can people that live in area with fewer scooters pair up with motorcycles? Like for colors, or countries of origin etc…? I would be ok with that, and should make for some interesting photos…. Just a thought. :)

Scooters with motorcycles might show up later this summer on another week, so no, sorry.
And before any of you get any ideas about cheating by getting your cycle pic early, there will be something special that will have to be in the picture so don't bother taking one now!

Yeah that's 3 of a kind but it does not count because the photograph is 2 weeks old.

All pics must be taken during the week of that particular photo scavenger hunt subject.

Get your friends together for another ride and another pic.

 The photos have to be taken during the week that the contest is happening?! D'oh, I have a bad case of the Dumbs or a Senior Moment or whatever. Neither of my photos is eligible, and I'm sorry I flubbed up. As we say here on the internet...

Can someone go to the original scavenger hunt post and copy and paste The general rules in this thread from my first post?
I can't do it from my BlackBerry
Thanks!

I will include these in each new thread for future weeks. Sorry for the confusion.

Does it matter or count if you own all the scooters, or is it suppose to be other people's scooters? I noticed some people have several themselves. Shoot. I never see any scooterists here and have not scooter friends.

It's supposed to be about 106 today in the Valley of the Eternal Sunburn. If I just start seeing double, does that count?

2pts for A Pair Of Scooters

**Edit: change that to 7pts for 3 Of A Kind (3 red scoots)**

Oooo, if the above pics don't count, do I get a point for being first?

Total: 8pts

Ok, so I hate to pair "Redbud" with a Chinese Rocketa [and now a Chinese QJiang, too], but we're parked next to each other at work and [all three] scooters are red. I have no idea who the other scoots belong to. Maybe I can get a better hand sometime before the week is up.

Ok, finally got 'em all together.

Full House
2 Blue Scoots (Buddy St Tropez and Vespa P200e)
+
3 Japanese Scoots (Honda Elite 80, Honda Metropolitan, Fuji Rabbit)

I was also thinking it could be a full house based on:
3 two-tone scoots
+ 2 scoots that haven't changed their look in over 20 years (Vespa and Elite :))

That's me looking so glum because it's hot. And I'm not riding in that outfit...flip flops and shorts would never do.

I don't know how I feel about the last pic, you could find a reason to match any scoot. I think they should be closer related. 3 Japanese scoots is a little vague.

The connections might be a little stretched... Do any of them have the same size engines(cc)? That might help.

I think we were leaning towards color, engine size, make, or model being the same for it to be considered a match. Leave it to ScootLemont to decide! (no pressure)

3 Jap scoots counts
I left the rules a little vague to see how far some of us could stretch the bs
And... I do want to encourage as many group scooter photographs as possible.

I'm honored to have this hunt featured as my idea...but sadly the weather around here (Boston) is craptastic this week. I fear that with a wedding, rehearsal dinner and other events this weekend; and with the horrid climatic events; I won't be able to participate this week.

BUT I'LL TRY.

Perhaps I'll get a photo of my scoot and a dog named Buddy. Would that work?

Hey, it's just fun and an excuse to show off scoots..didn't mean to ruffle feathers. I'll take 2 of kind if you're not happy...2 blue & 2 Hondas. The Hondas start every time even though I sold the Met! The poor Rabbit never gets to represent.

And all these scoots live on the same street! I'm blessed to be in awesome neighborhood.

Good video... Now I'm wondering what song you're gonna choose for poker week. Me & my parents have an ongoing joke about Kenny Rogers' the Gambler... Well, if you saw any or all of the Gambler movies -- you get the joke.

This week's hunt is harder than it looks. I'll post this one just because I took it, but after re-reading the rules, I see that it's [edit] nearly [/edit] worthless. I feel so, small. My picture doesn't [edit] hardly [/edit] rate Jacks or better to open, and my co-workers' scoot is ignoring my scoot's 'Good Morning, Burgy'. [edit] Thanks to MikieTaps, I'll take two points for a pair of scoots with bigger-than-Buddy wheels. WooHoo! I'm not shut out![/edit]
Image
Maybe I'll force myself out in the 110 degree heat on Thursday and see if I can come up with something better.

I must have missed the post with the rules for the week 2 scavenger hunt (and must be "searchically challenged" - I can't find the post that states the rules). Near as I can tell it had something to do with a picture in front of a baseball stadium. Oh well, I'll try to get a poker picture tonight!

Here is the link to weeks 1 & 2 if you want to check it out...
topic4570.html
Week 2 started at the bottom of page 2 of that thread.
All future weeks will be there own thread (like this one)
We are running all summer with this, 11 more weeks to go, so plenty of time to join in on the fun.
Looking forward to your poker pic! (we need more this week - 5 pics isnt going to be much of an addition to the video)
Is this week too hard for everyone? (thats what she said)
