Bonegirl hits the 20,000 mile mark on the Pink Buddy!
Just had to brag because I have had so much fun on my scooter since buying it a couple years ago. Me and Lagerhead bought scooters just for the fun of it, not because of the economy or rising gas prices, etc. We just wanted to ride and have fun. And I have to tell you, we have enjoyed every minute on our scooters. We have also met so many wonderful people in the Cincinnati Tri-state area as well during Rallies and various Rides. Enjoy your scooter, ride safely and hopefully you'll have many miles before you know it, each one more adventurous than the last!

Hooray!
In 20K have you had any significant problems with the scooter? Do you follow a pretty strict maintenance regimen?

We really do a good job at maintenance. Synthetic oil change around every 1,500 miles. Check belts and rollers, I am on my third set of rollers but the second set was lighter graphite and wore out quickly. Only on my second belt, though.ericalm wrote:Hooray!

The biggest problem I have had is with the last few headlight bulbs (I have an '06). They are wired backwards with the brights being on in the normal position as well as burning out pretty quickly. The bulbs are Genuine bulbs so I just bought one more and I'm gonna' keep track of how many miles it makes before blowing. In the meantime, we're ordering a halogen headlight bulb from ScooterWorks. Maybe it's my voltage regulator so we'll check that, too.
I almost forgot, both the Buddys in the house had clutch bearing problems due to a factory defect. It was easily taken care of by Metro Scooter (dealer) and Genuine's Warranty.
I am on my 4th set of tires: wore out the originals, then went to Continental Zippy 1, then Pirelli and now I am on my favorite tire, Maxxis tubeless whitewall. It has done an outstanding job in performance in the rain.

You sure those are miles?
I was wondering what everyone's opinions are on the Buddy odometer. I know that the 2008 Buddys are in miles, well close to it. We used a GPS and discovered that when the 2008 Buddy says its gone 1 mile, its actually gone 0.9 miles. I am pretty sure that the older Buddys read out in KM. I am interested what your opinions are on this matter. Also, What repairs have you had to done on your 20k pinky?

No repairs except the clutch problem that was covered under warranty. I forgot to add that my husband has painted the muffler a couple times with high temp spray paint which seems to last a long time. It's an awesome machine.iloveducks11 wrote:Also, What repairs have you had to done on your 20k pinky?

Odometer
Hey Peabpdy99,
How do you know that the 2006's are in miles? Did you GPS it, or read it somewhere? I only ask because we have this debate about once a week at the local scooter shop.

awesome! i am so jealous of all your miles!
i probably would be closer to that but i wasn't able to ride for about 6-7 months due to various issues with the scooter (and a month long trip driving to alaska- in a car)
i am somewhere in the area of 11,000. scooty is in the shop right now so i don't have the exact amount. should be ready to get back on the road sometime this week! can't wait!

I've been curious about the odometer accuracy myself. Has anyone taken a decent length road trip and compared to a GPS? Curious if it's 10% under like the speedo is. That would mean, for example, if I am supposed to change my oil every 1500 with synthetic, can I actually get by and wait till the speedo showed 1650 miles?

23,000
And today I hit the 23,000 mile mark in 23.5 months! I have measured my speedometer and odometer both on GPS and the odometer is always accurate. The speedometer reads 5mph higher in the normal driving range (45 - 65mph).

We were out of town today and the kid next door was on his little motorcycle (look in the picture at the far left). He had on some giant yard gloves and ran over, threw down his gloves and run to me with his hands out in front of him. I knew he wanted to wear my gloves. As soon as I put them on, my husband was getting ready to put him on his black Buddy. Junior was having none of that! He ran to the Pink Buddy and started climbing the seat right away. He's at the age where he knows PINK is the coolest color but not old enough to be worried about the macho man thing! Yeow!!!! Go, Kid, go!!!!polianarchy wrote:This just proves that PINK SCOOTERS are the best! You, *GO* BoneGirl!

You can tell by his expression that in his mind he's going 100mph *ZOOM*! But what he doesn't know is that since he's on a Buddy he's really only going 88.1637422mph (GPS verified).BoneGirl wrote:He's at the age where he knows PINK is the coolest color but not old enough to be worried about the macho man thing! You are way too funny! All that talk about "How accurate is you odometer?" and "How accurate is your speedometer?" just cracks the heck out of me. Just get on your bike and ride, for God's sake! I don't have time for all that nonsense.Lagerhead wrote: You can tell by his expression that in his mind he's going 100mph *ZOOM*! Where ya' been, Dave? I didn't get to speak with her much, but your Rollergirl seems very nice. I need to get ready for the Roll in the Hay Rally this weekend so probably won't make it out this Thursday.ScooterDave wrote:Angie, you are my hero.
