MSNBC Features Buddy!!
OK. They feature scooting, but the main scooter in many of the shots is a Buddy 150 Int'l.

I paused the video at that spot.amylou wrote:The loaded down Buddy that you saw just for a second wasn't Alix from peacescoot was it?
Looks to be a black and silver Buddy - same as Alix
And could say that the jacket is a green Corrazzo style - Same as Alix
Loaded to the Gills - same as Alix
I'd say a good chance it's Alix

One other good thing about this video is that it shows scooterists wearing helmets and gear (at least long pants and shoes) and not flitting about in tank tops, flip flops and short shorts.
And it was cool that a real shop owner got featured and got his name on screen.
Maybe we're becoming a movement!

Jeff,
You wrote an excellent blog post about safety and the media that you linked from the video.
I've just been riding for two weeks. Love it. I wear a FF helmet, mesh armored jacket, boots, and gloves. I've been asked by a couple of people why I look like I came off a motorcycle. I say smiling, "The pavement wouldn't know where I came from. It just knows I was flying at 50 when I hit." Thankfully that hasn't happened yet.
It's the great membership of MB that has helped me get started.
Thanks,
Don

Thanks for the props, but my post count here belies my relative noobness. I really have found this place to be a wealth of great info. I've had my scoot for one month and two days so far but it feels like I've been 'home' here forever.
Poke around and you'll find great resources for everything from carrying your coffee on the scoot to which types of waves are appropriate the other two-wheel contraptions on the road (a full-on Barney Fife wave is for fellow scooterists).
You'll also find that the crowd here is so down-to-earth that they roll with the occasional sarcastic blast and can laugh at themselves heartily.
I hope to see some more posts from you as you delve into the wonderfulness that is scooting on a Buddy.

I liked the fact that the reporter was riding a Buddy, and he was wearing a helmet, eye protection, jeans, and real shoes (couldn't tell i they were boots or not.

Yes, that is my scooter.
Yes, I wear a helmet and a FIRSTGEAR armored jacket.
No, I'm not embarrassed to be seen riding it.
Yes, that is an NRA sticker on the fender.
"I aim to misbehave."

The thing that tossed me was when the narrator said that "with that smaller engine, a scooter's no motorcycle".Cheshire wrote:rajron wrote:Fun!
How is that guy going to fit $20.00 of gas in his scooter?
I had the same thought! I tend to think in 300-mile amounts, as that's about how far a tank of gas will get me in my RAV-4. I wonder if that's what he was getting at?
I beg to differ. And I would contend that scoots have A LOT of things in common with a motorcycle.
But on the whole, I think they did a good job with the story.

That's what I thought too! Perhaps a previous news story was at an NBC affiliate and they shared that footage when them. Good to see that most of the "in the wild" scooterists shown were fully geared up, even if the reporter wasn't.amylou wrote:The loaded down Buddy that you saw just for a second wasn't Alix from peacescoot was it?

It's stage 3 of the Tour de France as I type this and I wanted to mention that scooters are there too. Not only in the streets of France, but ON THE COURSE.
Last year the MP3 was being used as a press vehicle for the cameras covering the Tour.
It's the same this year from what I can see.
Mostly it's BMW motorcycles, but the MP3s are all over there too.

Good article.
I'm actually in that video, about halfway through, right after they zoom in on gas prices. That's pretty strange if you ask me.
When I was in LA, they filmed me riding around, so I guess I'm just stock footage now-LOOK, SCOOTERIST CARRIES MANY BAGGAGE, let's use for filler in story. (my taiwanese taking over, sorry, been long time on bike)

The shots of Alix and one quick shot of the Buddies on my showroom floor were from a local KNBC channel 4 story from about a month ago.
The shots of the reporter on the San Tropez were done on the side street by my shop last week. The bike that was used is the shop demo buddy. We rigged a camera mount to the front rack.
