Am I the only one that still loves his cage?
Obviously I am driving it a lot less, but I STILL adore my car.
My 1998 Saab 900SE, "Pixar'ed"
and.... My wife's Saab:
Yea, a 2 Saab family.
Saabs rule.... even if it has been a bit neglected lately (mine, not hers).
I am a moderator at http://www.saabcentral.com
In fact, we are having a Saab Meet at Findley State Park this weekend if anyone wants to join us.
I know I can't be the only one that still loves his car?!?

Sophy still gets used since I am still waiting for Bonheur. As far as will she be used as frequently? Probably not. But I will keep her because come Christmas, she gets reindeer antlers. And Easter brings bunny ears.
If only they made these www.cargetups.com for scooters.

I have a 2006 red Aveo LT hatch named Snoopy-he gets driven to work because there is not a really a good way to get to my job without going through some dicey parts of town. If things were different, Snoopy would be getting mighty lonely in the garage.gottascoot wrote:Even though my poor poor millie has been sitting for about a week now... I still love her! If I had one of these, it would rule over the scooter:
alas, if i could afford one of these, the money would actually be better served as a down payment for a home in town...thus negating the need for a car and promoting walking, bicycle, bus...thus negating the need for a scooter. *sigh*

Yeah, I really wish the Clubman version of the MINI had been available in the generation my MINI is from. I really don't care for the new platform, especially in Cooper S trim, but I do LOVE the Clubman.

I still love my bucket ('04 GTI, 1.8T, 5 spd). Scooting has cut me down from about 1100 miles per month to approx 800, saving me about $30 a month in gas.
I should scoot more, but to get to some areas I'd have to brave a highway for an exit (I'm not too keen on only going 45-50mph up a hill while everyone else is hauling 65+) or add probably 20 miles to my route going the long way.
Had I known gas was going to go nuts, I never would've bought the GTI last October since it runs on premium and I only manage 25mpg in it. My Rattler only gets about 60mpg due to some long open roads on my commute

Nothing beats my 5.7L V8 4x4 Suburban. One of the best road trip vehicles and it can haul 4 scooters to rallies on the trailer. It only seats 7 as I have 2nd row captain chairs instead of the bench.
As I do not owe anything on it, the cost of ownership is quite a bit less than if I were to go out & buy a Prius.

I sold my beautiful '69 yellow Ghia (aka "Karl") and my b/f sold his adored '70 blue Ghia (aka "Blau Maus") ... he purchased two 1800E (we're down to just one, finally). I never could find the beauty in the ES...I always felt like my man should have a super-hairy chest with an unbuttoned guayabera and gold chains while driving 'round in the ES.Syd wrote:I have only loved one, my '60 Ghia. I have lusted after several (most notably every Volvo 1800ES), but they didn't mean anything and I have not been unfaithful.
My one true love was my first car: a '69 Beetle bought from the original owner before I even had my driving license. I would still have it but my mom sold it when I was living out of the country. Nothing like coming back to discover everything was gone...clothes, stereo, books, car.

I talked my girlfriend into getting a SAAB too a 93. So i guess that makes us a saab family too..
YUM SAABS
Mine's the rare Coupe, though. Is yours? I should show you my rear end. I have the holy grail of Saab parts on it. The UPPER hatch spoiler! It's kickin'. Also added eyelids recently.
About to be a 2 Saab family and NOT on Saabcentral? Get your butt over there!! hehehe
(I am CleveSaab over there).
I had a feeling there would be some Saab people on here.

Be careful with modding. It's a very, very slippery slope -- one that I obviously tumbled down.
Chips are a fantastic bang for buck investment, but they definitely make the loud pedal a lot more fun, and that can be a bad thing.

Yes, but putting gas in it sucks! Like MPA, I have a VW, but a 2.0T, which also can only have the premium (turbo=high compression=91+). The only thing I like more with the cage is the AC...no matter how fast you go on the scoot when it's 110 degrees outside, you're going to melt.
As a side note...my first car was a 1968 Saab Deluxe 4 (the first car they made without a 2-stroke engine!) for those who have never seen one, they're really cool little cars:

It did no wrong, but I hate my car. Even in the dead of winter when the scooter is grounded by ice and snow, I sometimes choose to walk or use public transportation. What a wasteful thing, one person in a 4-5 passenger car. I am ashamed I still have it, but the nature of work requires the mobility a car or scooter has and public transportation cannot accommadate.

Wow, what a stable! I couldn't help laugh out loud when reading what your wife drives. We got our first P1800 cheap because the guy's wife couldn't handle the fact it didn't have a/c...she made him buy a 2-seater Merc. Sometimes I think that's the only reason my b/f keeps me around...I know that side vent windows work.Tazio wrote:I love my cages!

What I would give for any year 911...and a state police escort on the interstate in the middle of the night. One day...a girl's gotta dream.

No, my car will always be my first love. I'm just now installing many more "go fast" parts on it, as it no longer needs to get me to work and back.
Behold my 550HP 440 Bigblock powered 1970 Plymouth Sport Satellite 9 passenger station wagon doing burnouts at the drag strip.
AxeYrCat: 418 isn't too much for the commute! I did 50 miles a day with 550. Course in the winter that was often quite scarry

MikieTaps: Its awesome having a fast wagon. I love the fact that I can easily beat modern Mustang GT's and Cobras. They get very upset.
Rajron: Thats before the 440 got put in. It had a stock tired old 383 2bbl when that picture was taken

My wife drives my 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser with 5 speed manual transmission, and we're going on vacation in it next week because it gets around 30 mpg on the open road. My 2008 Chevrolet Colorado extended cab gets 20-24 mpg, has OnStar combined with a built-in cell phone, and handily hauls the Budd when I need to move it from here to there (home to shop to home). I just can't haul firewood on the Budd or in the Cruiser.
I love 'em both in their proper milieu, but I live on the Budd.

Yes, I wear a helmet and a FIRSTGEAR armored jacket.
No, I'm not embarrassed to be seen riding it.
Yes, that is an NRA sticker on the fender.

Just for the record, that's 418 to all four wheels (though that's on 100 octane, but before a few lil' tweaks).Kaos wrote:AxeYrCat: 418 isn't too much for the commute! I did 50 miles a day with 550.
On pump gas, I'm closer to 370-something at all four.
I've driven some high-HP RWD cars, but none with over 500 WHP — that seems to me like a recipe for looking at where you came from instead of where you were going... at least, as far as corners are concerned.

Good lord, the cars on here!
I couldn't do without my lil' RAV-4, but that's because I make her work as hard as I do...come to think of it, sometimes harder.
Being a potter, she regularly hauls near capacity, both volume and weight. No way I'm going to try hauling a 50-pound box of porcelain on the back of a scooter, let alone the trips I make when I place a ton+ order for supplies! We're not even touching the idea of hauling finished work without a car...I ain't risking breakage. Besides...how else am I going to haul an 80-pound rottie?
Nevermind that I regularly take full advantage of the 4-wheel drive and ground clearance! No, I don't go "off-roading" for sport. I DO go off-roading for materials, bailing out friends, and this nasty irresistable urge to go somewhere the second the weather gets white in winter. I dare a lowrider to get to where the good hiking/biking trailheads are...dare ya!

rajron: Yeah, that was slow even for a stock 383. I've not actually run it at the track since I dropped in the 440, but it should be quite a bit faster than that now.
AxeYrCat: Yeah, 550HP is a good way to check behind you on corners. Thats why I usually run it in a strait line, about a 1/4 mile at a time Other than that, I have to remember that my gas pedal is NOT an on/off switch
418 to all 4 wheels is impressive, I'll bet thats fun to drive. How much does it weigh?
