Scooter Photo Scavenger Hunt Week 9: Scooter Beach Party!

Post by ScootLemont »

Scooter Photo Scavenger Hunt Week 9: Scooter Beach Party!
(but it does NOT have to be at the beach)
July 25th-31st

Megga point bonus week!
A possible 34 Points for a perfect score! – Now is your chance to catch up and our chance to see just how far some of us are willing to go for points!

sargelee71 suggested “scooters & water” so this is what I morphed that into:

3pts for your scooter with a River, Lake, Ocean, Stream, Creek, Canal, Pond, or Swimming Pool
(NO puddles, hoses, buckets, sprinklers, fire hydrants etc)

Bonus Points:

+2pts if there is a fishing pole in the photo (within 10ft of your scooter)
+3pts if there is a fish on the fishing line or on a stringer (also within 10ft of your scooter) Edit 7/27/08: fake fish count but real fish are cooler

+5pts if it is at a beach (must be within 20ft of the sand & we must be able to see the scooter, sand and water in the pic)

+1pt for each (up to 5) person posing with your scooter that is wearing a Hawaiian Shirt
Maximum points for this category is 5!
(Posing means, standing within 10ft of your scooter, looking at your scooter, or the camera, & preferably waving or giving the “hang loose” sign. NOT in the background or walking past, or on the other side of a fence etc.)

+1pt for each (up to 5) person posing with your scooter that is wearing a swimsuit.
Maximum points for this category is 5!
(Posing means, standing within 10ft of your scooter, looking at your scooter, or the camera, & preferably waving or giving the “hang loose” sign. NOT in the background or walking past, or on the other side of a fence etc.)
Note: if someone is wearing a swimsuit AND a Hawaiian shirt, you do NOT get to count them twice.

+1pt for each (up to 5) surfboard EDIT: or Sailboard
(not a raft, not an ironing board, not a boogie board)
Maximum points for this category is 5!

+1pt for each (up to 5) INFLATABLE beach toy / raft / ball that is within 20ft of your scooter
(MUST be an INFLATABLE beach toy & we must be able to clearly see each one in the pic)
Maximum points for this category is 5!

+1pt for the first person to post a qualifying pic this week

And before anyone complains… I know most people don’t live in southern California but that doesn’t mean you can’t get 5 friends in Hawaiian shirts, 5 in swimsuits & blow up 5 beach balls & park next to your neighbor’s backyard pool for a quick 18 points. I guess if you are a little shy about asking people to pose with your scooter, you might be at a disadvantage, but consider this free therapy to help you become more outgoing.

PLEASE do your own math & include you point total with your submission!!!! (if you don’t include your points, you don’t get them)

General Rules for every week:
-A new photo subject added every Friday. Participants will have until the following Thursday to post their pic (taken that week)
-Only one photo may be submitted by each member for each week’s subject. (but if you get a better pic later in the week, PLEASE edit your original post note that you posted a better pic and note in the newer post that it is a replacement for a previous pic.
-Old photos you have lying around can NOT be used- they must be NEW photos taken the week the photo subject was posted
-10 BONUS POINTS (good anytime all summer) for a photo of you getting a ticket (photo must include your scooter & a cop writing the ticket) only one of these may be submitted per player. (Thanks to kazoo for the suggestion)
(Edit – you don’t have to be REALLY getting a ticket… if you can get a cop to pose like he/she is writing you a ticket, that is good enough)
-No Photoshop submissions
-Prize? Sure, if we can figure out a way to do that, but the real prize will be bragging rights & all the fun we all had all summer.

Scooter Photo Scavenger Hunt!
What is it? - Every Friday a new photo subject is posted in gallery forum & it will be your job to go get a photo of your scooter with that subject.

When is it? - It was started May 30th & hopefully will run it all summer, finishing up Labor Day weekend. That will give us 14 photos to get.
Who? - EVERYONE is encouraged to participate, the more players the better! Some subjects will be easy & some will be more difficult. Some might be impossible for some people but do your best & participate when you can. Don’t worry if you didn’t get in at the start... just jump in anytime!

If anyone has any suggestions for photo subjects or on how to make this more fun, please post up or PM me.

Here is a link to an index of the previous weeks as well as the weekly videos

Gonna gripe anyway. A surfboard! WTF ... I don't think there are 5 surfboards total in the state of Illinois.

oh, this is gonna be tough ...

Two questions....do either of these qualify as water?

1. Does an "above ground" large backyard pool qualify? NOT a little blow up kiddie pool....one of those 5 foot deep jobs that are like 20 feet in diameter. Because you proably can't see the water...only the side of the pool?

2. How about those huge backyard "fish ponds with waterfalls"....my neigbor has one that is very large and full of fish.

I see jail written all over this. And it seems so innocent.

Excuse me miss, could you and your four hot friends come over here and pose with my scooter?

No, don't cover up, I need you all in swim suits.

And could you bring any toys you have?

I'll email you from the big house.

Greetings to all from the bleachers @ Wrigley!
EDIT: back from the game - I bet your neighbor's fish pond would be great but then some people might want to use a yard pond that is not so great - sorry

Getting the first pic would be easy. I live .5mi from the beach and drive past it on EVERY scooter ride.

The trouble is, the PALTRY one point for first pic pales in comparison with the 34 points I am shooting for. And that takes coordination.

I might go cruise the beach today and see if I can entice some boarders to come over. Might give me into the 18 range.

This is TOUGH!

The first pic is 3 points (any lake, river etc).... so if you take a pic of you, in a hawaiian shirt (1pt) holding a beachball (1pt) with your scooter at a beach (5pts) you would have 10pts - thats not so hard for 10 pts

Before anyone asks - a wetsuit is a swimsuit
- so if you had 5 surfers with their boards, in wetsuits or swimsuits, pose with your scoot thats 10 bonus points + (I assume it would be a beach) 5 for being at a beach + the 3 for your scooter with a lake, river, ocean, etc. - thats a quick 18 points.

I'll get it started!

3pts for your scooter with a Swimming Pool.
+2pts if there is a fishing pole in the photo.
+3pts if there is a fish on the fishing line (Do I get bonus points for hooking a famous fish?).
+1pt for each (up to 5) INFLATABLE beach toy.
+1pt for the first person to post a qualifying pic this week

3+2+3+5+1=14 Points

Dam, I even had a nice long piece of PVC lying around. Would've saved me getting a bamboo fishing pole. It's not this one, but the idea is the same

+4pt for each person posing with your scooter that is wearing a swimsuit.
+4pt for each surfboard
=19 points!

Alright, I'm gonna point some things out so you know it's legit. The fishing pole is a little shorty near the St. Tropez topcase. The surf boards are at the lifeguard stations with the umbrellas. There is one by the white umbrella and two by the red one. There is another surf board on top of the truck near the shoulder of the girl in the white tank. I'm super excited because I live in Illinois, and thought this was gonna be super lame. I hope this counts, but it's cool if it doesn't. It was fun anyway, and definately out of my comfort zone!

We were pretty excited to get these points seeing as how we are in the midwest

Ummm...guys....I think ALL the props need to be clearly visible in ONE picture to get all the points. Plus, something about within 10 feet of your scooter? And the water within 20 ft of your scooter? Nice effort... but I'm not sure what the huntmaster is going to say about the surfboard or fishing pole points.

Well, you can see all the props in the photo, they are just really, really small. The fishing pole is hard to see because it blends with the fence, the surf boards are above the left shoulder of the kid in black (the two white things under the umbrellas) and you can see the truck too. We are definately within 20 ft of the sand. If you Where's Waldo it you can see everything, but I figured we'd get some crap for it. Either way it's cool.

I see all the points in the pic, and the scoot appears to be 20ft from the sand, but most of the props aren't close to the scooter...the original rules don't state that everything has to be within 10 ft of the scooter, just that some of the things did.

Sweet, you saved me a trip to the bait shop :D

Here's my entry for the week. Almost got it all, we were two surf boards short and it's not a surfing beach so no body to help us out. Special thanks to the Mantle King and his daughter who I managed to convince we were not a bunch of wackos, we just needed two more swim suits in the pic :)

3 points for scooter at the ocean
5 points for actually being a beach
2 point for fishing pole
3 points for fish on pole (sorry, a real fish would have freaked out the girls)
5 points for 5 Hawaiian shirts
5 points for 5 People wearing swim suits
3 points for 3 surfboards
5 point for 5 inflatable beach toys

31 Total Points :)

I know Racenut did not need the extra point, but BOSKO the rat terror even posed for the picture with his Hawiian Shirt on. Does he get 1/2 point?

PS. the dog does not know he is not a human....and it not up for discussion.

This has become our weekly Family outing, everyone cannot wait for Friday so we can see what the next Scavenger Hunt will be. Thanks, ScootLemont

This week only 3 points for me, I just did not feel like taking the 40 min ride one way to the actual beach. If the road was fun I would have but it is all pretty much throttle wide open highway.

3 points for scooter at the pool
2 point for fishing pole
5 points for 5 Hawaiian shirts
5 points for 5 People wearing swim suits
5 point for 5 inflatable beach toys

20 points total

Darn....if I'd known the fake fish would count, I could have gotten 3 more points! Oh well.....c'est la vie!

These are some great pics (again) this week
The ones with all the people are very cool... but I also like Syd's "dont fall in" pool shot & Othergod's "lonley at the lake" pic - they may not be the most points, but they are still cool pics.

Hey everyone... now might be a good time to check your score on my score sheet - I messed up two people last week (now fixed)

Please let me know if there are any more mistakes!

Thanks

PS. the dog does not know he is not a human....and it not up for discussion.

This has become our weekly Family outing, everyone cannot wait for Friday so we can see what the next Scavenger Hunt will be. Thanks, ScootLemont
Oh My GOSH! You have a RAT TERROR in California!!! :D Whenever I have traveled with my girls outside of the midwest and squirrel-hunting territory people seemed confused that any such breed exists, although I know they must be in homes somewhere because I see them on Rat Terrier Rescue sites.

I just have to say, "YEA for Bosko!!!" Do you have a close up with him in his Hawaiian shirt? :)

Anyone else feeling less than enthusiastic about this one?
I suppose I should be upset, even feel violated, but I'm not. No, in fact, I think this is a friendly message, like "Hey, wanna play?" and yes I want to play. I really really do.

I was until my brother pointed out that there is a beach like 2 miles from here.
