Dorothy decided to visit my school's library today. Not only did the librarian NOT object, she helped me sneak Doro in the back door AND took the photo! My librarian rocks!
Our biggest worry was the principal's secretary. She'd have pitched a major hissy fit if she knew Dorothy was actually inside the school.
3 pts - my scooter and a library
1 pt - I'm in the picture
3 pts - a classic book, Tale of Two Cities
6 pts - I'm dressed as Madam Lafarge (note the knitting!)
(I tried to get sailortot let me slide by as an "academic" library, but I guess middle school doesn't count)
13 pts total
I can't wait until next week's assignment!

OUTRAGEOUS picture - great concept - and brilliant Execution!OKBubbles wrote:Dorothy decided to visit my school's library today. Not only did the librarian NOT object, she helped me sneak Doro in the back door AND took the photo! My librarian rocks!
I only wish, with 'The Tale of Two Cities' - that there could have been a Guillotine as well - with perhaps the heads of one or two traitors against the Revolution....as a bloody reminder....of the perils of Scootering....inside a Library! After all, most Librarians will merely Sssssshhhhh! you for making too much noise - but it's a cool concept that *some* librarians....might take more drastic (draconian) measures.
Nice Job!

3 pts- your scooter and a library
1 pt - you are in the picture
1 pt - youre holding a copy of just any book
6 pts - youre dressed like a character in the book youre holding
TOTAL 11 POINTS!
Here's me at the North Regional Library in Raleigh, NC for my first ever photo scavenger hunt post. I chose The Gunslinger by Stephen King because I recently finished reading the entire Dark Tower series. Awesome books! Yes, I took a real gun to a library...no, it wasn't loaded. Thanks to Nativeloup for the use of his gun and his photography skills!

Moby Dick? Ugh. Capt Picard couldn't make it interesting! Besides, I couldn't find a good wooden leg.
A Tale of Two Cities? Now there's a good book. Unless, of course, you're my niece, who feels about Dickens the way I feel about Melville. (Of course this is the same niece who, after looking at the Hunt threads, sent me this text: "WHAT A DoRK!"). And I thought I was a good influence. Sigh.
Madame Defarge is introduced like this:
"Madame Defarge being sensitive to cold... had a quantity of bright shawl twined about her head... Her knitting before her"
On to the points
3 pts- your scooter and a library
3 pts if it is an academic library at a college (the library of Scottsdale Community College, "Home of the Artichokes!")
1 pt if you are in the picture
3 pts if youre holding a classic novel (A Christmas present from the aformentioned niece - thanks Hillary!)
6 pts if youre dressed like a character in the book
16 Points
At first I was bummed because OKBubbles beat me to the Mdme Lefarge post, now I'm bummed because her pic is just better. But I have a severed head!

so i got scooty back this morning and the first thing i did was head up to the Franklin Public Library to get a picture!
3 pts- your scooter and a library!
10 pts if it is a FAMOUS library- Franklin Public Library was the first public library in the United States!
1 pt if you are in the picture - yep!
3 pts if youre holding a classic novel- Scarlet Letter is the book i chose, mainly because i like it and also because hawthorne rocks.
17 points for me!
Ben, scooty and i enjoying free books for all!
the other reason i chose the franklin library is because it is right across the street from the Dean College library!
i was trying to take the picture so that both were in the shot but none of them came out good. two libraries in one photo, that would have been sweet. and i was trying to find a Ben Franklin wig also but none of the places had them. you would think it would have been easy since we are so close to halloween.
edit- took off the "just any book" point! sorry about that! first time in the hunt and new to the rules.

I hope you all appreciate this photo, a bus tried to run me off the road (completely intentionally no less!) on the way to the library. Armacham flipped him the bird and I felt a little better.

Well we had a nice little ride today. Weather was nice if maybe a bit cool. We had to find a way to get our scooters to the campus library. We parked and walked in scouting it out, then found a place where the parking structure was closest and had a walkway. She was bold and just rode in, I got off and pushed, not wanting to wake up any security guards
But today was the longest ride she's taken since she got her Buddy, and while it sat there for pics, it had 99.9 mils on the ticker
Anyway.. my pic...

I suppose I should be upset, even feel violated, but I'm not. No, in fact, I think this is a friendly message, like "Hey, wanna play?" and yes I want to play. I really really do.

Just wanted to drop in because I don't know if people read all the famous ones. The Carnegie library is actually like 2500 of them. He was the most famous person for creating libraries.
There is no listing of the ones in the US but if you look up the local history on your hometown site it might say.

Nice job, Becktastic! The Canterbury Tales is in fact one of the great classic pieces of literature in the English language - and your costume is.....truly appropriate. It kind of makes one stop and wonder if, today, pilgrims going from point A to point B would travel by foot, as they did in the Middle Ages....or whether Scooters would be appropriately spiritual for some paths traveled.Becktastic wrote:3 pts for holding a classic novel (It was ruled Canterbury Tales was good)

Can we get the next challenge already? It might stop raining here in about three days and I need to be ready!

Hey OG....I thought Mrs. OG was giving you grief about playing in another hunt. Looks like we know who wears the "pants" in your family! Even if they are rather strange looking Nice pic, BTW.Orange Guy wrote:Can we get the next challenge already? It might stop raining here in about three days and I need to be ready!

There appear to be a lot of big, costume-y dresses in the closets of many of our female members. Huh!
