NBR: Anybody know what this is?
It's the only photo I have. One of the guys in the local scooter club is making us guess. It has a lot of people stumped.
I suppose I should be upset, even feel violated, but I'm not. No, in fact, I think this is a friendly message, like "Hey, wanna play?" and yes I want to play. I really really do.

Mitsubishi Silver Pigeon C-90 (1959-ish?)
Imported to the US by Rockford Scooter Co (IL represent! The Genuine of the 50s/60s!)
Also sold as the Rockford Silver Pigeon and by Montgomery Ward as the "Riverside Commuter."
MonkeyWards also sold Lambrettas as Riversides, (like Sears/Vespa/Puch/Allstate)
Do I get to keep it?

Also, I see a good space to put a Stebel Nautilus Compact.

Good call! My guesses were "well, it looks like a lot of German and Eastern Euro scoots, but it's not as far as I can tell…"
Or a toaster oven!illnoise wrote:Also, I see a good space to put a Stebel Nautilus Compact.

I'm not that much of a nerd, I had to look up the details, like the model number and year and Riverside model name, but I've seen a few of those in the flesh. It's a pretty good looking scooter. The turn signals or reflectors or whatever those are gave it away.
I don't think I've ever seen one running. $2000 is a lot, even if it is running, I think POCPhil traded a hunting knife, or a Vespa PK frame, or something equally worthless for the Silver Pigeon that he sawed in half to hang on his wall at the Ohio City POC.
They're pretty rare, but you see 'em pop up in the midwest once in while, since they were imported through Rockford and sold through (Chicago-based) Montgomery Ward.
Rare isn't always good, it's just too hard to get/keep something like that running with pretty much no parts support. With something like a Bella or Tourist, at least there's a pretty big following in Europe, so you have somewhere to go for parts and knowledge.

sure, i know
Simple. It is a red pickup truck with a bunch of old scoots and cycles in front of it in a fenced-off place that is open to the sky.
