Digital cluster oil light

Post by zuman »

The oil light on my digital cluster came on today while my wife was riding my Blur. The odometer reading? 634 miles (???)
Anyway, I'm now hoping it'll turn itself off soon.

Could it be one of those oil change reminder doodads that needs to be reset by following some simple procedure such as depressing the right brake, opening and closing the pet carrier three times in 5 seconds and then blowing into the exhaust twice?

I was wondering about that too ... wonder if you need to disconnect one of the cables or disconnect the battery to reset? Let us know what happens.

(Since it isn't connected to the oil in any way, I assumed it was a reminder light)

The oil light was designed to turn on to remind the owner to do the first oil change at 1000km. Since we're putting these clusters on used scooters, it means nothing. If you check your oil level, you'll find that it is perfectly fine. To turn off the light, press and hold the "Select" button until the oil light starts flashing then release it. While it is still flashing, press and hold the "Reset" button until the oil light turns off.

Oil light

Thanks, Babelfish.
Now honestly, how did you learn that sequence? A PGO manual?

No, I thought it was quite obvious. :D

Actually, I have too much time on my hands and just started poking at the cluster. Although I do have part of the PGO manual which talks about the cluster - except it's all in Chinese and I have yet to have it entirely translated. And before anyone asks, no, it does not mention anything about changing the backlight color. :D

Trim pots?

Post by zuman »

I'm happy with the backlight color, but are there any trim pots that might possibly let me correct the speedometer reading?
Thanks.

I've been waiting for my light to go on as I approached 600 miles on the odometer. As I was driving I couldn't remember when others had gone 'on', so I was constantly looking down to check it. Mine came on at 620.

Again, thanks to babblefish, I knew what to do and did the reset while screaming down the road.

Kids, don't try this at home ... I'm a trained professional.

Now I am curious to know if it will go off again after a certain amount of miles? Time will tell (if babblefish doesn't first give us a head's up)

i figured the 'oil light' would go on again after a 2nd series of 1000km ... and it did today! wasn't sure if it was a 1 time only thing or will come on again as a reminder ... now i don't even have to think to drive the Blur!
