Buddy not so great in ~cold~...

Post by Drumwoulf »

Buddy's legshield is too damn small, making it worse in cold weather than a MC. (At least on a MC you get some engine heat on yer legs!)

So I'm putting Buddy away for the winter soon. But my Vespa GT200 will stay active thru more of the cold months, as it's legshield (and windscreen) are bigger, and far more protective...! 8)

the shape of the buddy's legshield seems to channel all cold air directly into my crotch. Good thing I live in Tucson so this never really becomes an issue

Good thing you have that Vespa GT200 at the ready and won't have to man-up. : )

I'm super skinny, and 5'8''. The Buddy's legshield fits me perfect and I've never had cold legs even in the extreme cold. My upper body is what feels slightly cold, mostly my hands, I dont have winter gloves.

That could lead to a severe case of shrinkage (a Seinfeld episode). At least in Chicago or other cold weather climates.

Huh? I haven't had any problems with my legs getting cold. And I've only been wearing jeans. It's been ridiculously cold here too. I think it hit 65 degrees the other day when I was riding.

LOL! You don't even know what ~cold~ is! Have you ever ridden outside of CA?
40F+ days go down to 30F+ evenings here in NJ during our autumn riding season!
And for the winter? -Then you'd better have some serious riding gear!!

Guess It's time to break out my Knee Necks. They're quilted textile knee-high chaps.
Help a lot, but not for 'shrinkage'!!

Take a MSF class for 6 hours on day one of riding, and better yet, let it rain cats and dogs. And wear summer gear!

Do some of you secretly want Goldwings? Just go ride! If you want to be comfy, stay home.

Oh wow; a real hard boiled rider!
I had a Gold Wing for several years back in the eighties. Kept me nice and warm in the winter too.
Wasn't too much fun trying to make slow U-turns on it tho...

Also rode for many years all winter long with the NJ Polar Bear club (on a 750 Yamaha Maxim),
where I experienced some extremely painful riding lessons
until I learned how to gear up correctly... 8)

Anyway, I'm glad to see you're not at all interested in weather protection.
-Shows the mark of a real (under-)experienced terribly macho rider...

I think that when it gets in the 20s I might worry about shrinkage but

since we are undercompensating on the scooter anyway..... 8)

Might try tapping a small line into the exhaust and running it up the pants leg. As Jerry Lee Lewis might say, "Goodness gracious, great.....(well, you fill in the rest)".
