Congratulations! Was yours new? I got the same model, also black, in November, with just 700 miles on it. It seems there are a lot of those available. I've been very happy with mine so far. I don't know if this model was overproduced, underpurchased, or somewhere in between. Either way, I've had nothing but a positive experience. I hope yours is the same.

Yes mine was new. I got a deal on it since it was black and not the newest model. No issues with it yet, knock on wood. The dealer did say something about them being overproduced and Genuine gave them deals to get them out of their warehouse. He probably was feeding me a crock of doo but whatever. I like my Buddy.

Not a crock of doo! Almost all manufacturers were stuck with 2009 stock after the market crashed due to the recession. It's been so bad that companies have been clearing out 2009 scooters for a couple years now. Some companies still have packed warehouses! The 2009 Genuines are exactly the same as the 2010s. You got a good deal!

Cowl bars and a windshield. The bars will really help protect the sides if you take a little spill or it gets knocked over.

Me, I like windshields, but they're not everyone's cup of tea. If not, think about a rack.

Just picked up my new scooter (got what I think was a rather good deal on a new 2009 International) and drove it home on an uncharacteristically amazing April day here in the Pacific Northwest. Added myself to the map, and see that there is someone a block away from me, but not near where I usually see the two other Buddys in the neighborhood.

It's a Pamplona, but I gave it a French name: Boulevardier. Both for the literal meaning, and the fabulous burgundy-colored cocktail. At the very least, I can call it "Bully" for short, which seems appropriate.

Like the above poster, I'll soon have a $300 gift card awaiting me, and would love some advice. What's the logic on the cowl protector, exactly? I get it's protection, but do they work that amazingly well? Anyone else care to provide some advice, perhaps something I'd not have thought of myself (I was thinking of spending some of that coin on a lock).

Thanks!

The cowl protectors do a reasonably good job of taking the load if the bike falls down on its side. A bonus component is the passenger footpegs. Some folks hate 'em because they impinge on the driver in the footwell area, but they also do a really good job of protecting the side panels if the bike falls over. Thirdly - they provide a convenient grip point for putting the bike up on its center stand.

My scoot has fallen over once with no damage (small anecdotal data point), so I'm sticking with my cowl bars.

PeteH (and anyone else!), looking at the mounting instructions and the photos it appears like you can forgo the use of the foot pegs and the bar that cuts into the footrest area. I've got big feet, and space there is at a premium. Am I correct in thinking this? Thanks again!

Correct, but you do give up a little of the lay-down protection afforded by the pegs. My size 11s fit OK - I don't even think about them.

I'm a total newbie to the site and scooters. I just bought my first ever scooter, a Buddy Psycho, and I LOVE IT!!!

I just discovered the MB forum and have been wandering around in here and tried the map. I added my entry but the user name that showed up on the list is screwed up, symbols only, not my user name. Can you fix it? I believe I'm number 1500.

Thx.

I pulled it up and got your username. It might be a font problem or maybe it took a moment to update. Seems okay now, though!

Chances are members who no longer have scooters for whatever reason don't take themselves off the map. Also, some use approximate addresses to protect their privacy!

The dealer I bought this from said they sold 2 in this color within weeks. They were all SHOCKED that they would sell so quick haha! It was a bit spontaneous for me, but I have wanted a scooter ever since I watched FLCL years ago (crazy chick with a vespa).

Just added to the map. Surprised there aren't more in my area. There's a pretty successful bike/scooter/atv store near me in Lake Geneva that has a lot of Genuines. They even rent out the buddy 50's by the hour.

Commuted 5 miles to work today. First trip. 3 miles to lunch at Taco Bell and had 6 customers ask me about the outfit. one took a photo. Ran some errands around town. had a pick-up pass me then pull over and both the driver and passanger took photos. The driver yelled "nice rig!" Took it by my insurance agent (Harley guy) and he took photos and sent them to his wife and texted "Look what I'm getting next". Anyway, enjoying the Stella and added us to the map.
