Finally got my Buddy 170i I had wanted for some time. Loving every mile of it!

My wife & I also enjoy the parking abilities for events like College World Series final game a block from the stadium and a 50,000 person free concert traffic nightmare made easy.

PostPosted: Sat Oct 05, 2013 3:15 am    Post subject: New Member, New Owner Reply with quote

Just registered my 2009 Buddy 125 (Tangerine). Greetings from Warwick, NY!
Love the scooter. Got my permit and though I have been on scooters in the past, am taking my time learning the Buddy. Practicing the circles I have to do for the NYS road test at the end of the month and watching lots of YouTubes on riding. A friend who is a certified MSF instructor is going to give me some lesson time, but I will probably still take the MSF Basic course in the future. Not many scooters around here but I wanted a fun vehicle to do errands with and did not want to go "whole HOG" so to speak.

Added myself in Nashville, TN.

Been working on the occasional Buddy over the past couple of years. Had the privilege of buying a customer's Oxford Green 170i today, so I already knew how it had been treated (quite well).

It's got 14,800 miles on it, which doesn't really worry me. We work on a fair number of junk scooters, so we know the difference between those and the Buddys and Japanese scooters that visit.

Anyway, I've always been inclined towards motorcycles, but never had a chip on my shoulder about scooters. And right now my right tibia is broken and it will be a while before I can bear weight with it. The worn-out pickup truck I bought to act as a "wheelchair" got 10 mpg and blew a head gasket after I drove it 300 miles. So now I'm getting around on a Buddy 170i with a pair of crutches strapped to the right side. Works great!

Go to this link:

https://www.zeemaps.com/modernbuddy.com

Now, when I did that it gave me a 'default' homepage kind of result.

So I clicked in the URL/address bar, leaving the URL just as above, and pressed Enter, and it was then that the proper map page opened up, with a small pop-up centered where you input the 'key'.

This is the key which eric provided at the bottom of the very first post in this thread. If you are logged in you will be able to see it, it is very obviously large. Type those characters in at the ZeeMaps page, and you should be able to use the map. Smile

Similar to CapnK, when I click on the link it gives me a 'default' homepage.

After I clicked in the URL/address bar, leaving the URL as it was, and pressed Enter, the proper map page opened up, with a small pop-up centered where you input the 'key'.

I added myself in SW Olympia, WA.

I have been on these forums since last year, but just tried to add myself to the map, but I don't think it worked (maybe it needs to be approved). There was only one other person in my area (Binghamton NY), but I did see a few others in the general central NY region.

If it makes you feel better I cannot figure it out at all. There's no map or pop up when I go to the site. So I'm even more special and I'm not usually IT challenged.

bluebessie, if you go to the site and then highlite the address bar and click it again it should take you to the page where you can enter the "password". At least that's the way it has been working for me!

Didn't work for some reason in Chrome, but I think I got it to work in IE.

So thank you! I wouldn't have thought to try that again in IE if you hadn't mentioned clicking and then hitting enter.

Just introducing myself.
I picked up a '14 Hooligan yesterday with 1900 miles. The guy who was selling it really didn't want to sell it but his wife insisted.

Small bikes / scooters are my favorite. Love to point and squirt on two wheels. Never liked having to muscle bigger bikes/scooters around. Nimble is what I like.

Hope to meet you and share a coffee or so. I am located about 15 miles north of the Michigan Ohio border. If your 're in the area and need to use some tools, pitch a tent just let me know.

Scooters are where it is at!

Be good, Steve O
