Heya from another NoHo dweller.
What route do you take to go downtown?

I commute from here to Hollywood (Gower near Paramount), a mere 12 miles but it usually takes 30-40 minutes in rush hour. I either take Laurel Cyn. all the way to Ventura to Cahuenga to Highland or Riverside to Olive/Barham to Cahuenga to Highland.

It's actually faster coming back up Cahuenga on the north side of the 101 to Olive.

I have a 20-22 mile one way commute depending on what way I go. Mornings are typically 30-35 minutes, afternoons can take upto 40-45 minutes depending on traffic.

I'll have to keep an eye out for you next time I'm in LA. The customer I go see there is at 6th and Olive :-).

One customer rides her Buddy 125 from Echo Park to the Getty Museum, where she works. I dont know the exact mileage, but its pretty far. She is really racking up the miles.

Sometimes I ride surface streets home on the Mod Buddy between the shop and Pasadena. Its about 18 miles or so. This is not everyday though.

I have a five mile commute from South Philly up to North Philly. It takes me less than 15 minutes on my scooter. I kinda wish it were longer, heh!

However, if I take the bus, it can take over an hour. If I take the subway, it takes from 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the time of day. Last week when we got that ice storm, I waited for the bus for 45 minutes in the morning and again for 30 minutes on my way home. That's the normal schedule for Sundays, heh.

I'll say it again: I LOVE MY SCOOTER!!! :D

Poli, that is so funny that you wish your commute were longer. I feel the same way. There were days last summer when I would ride around for hours everyday, be completely exhausted and head home.......as soon as I would get on my street, I would end up passing my house and going around the block just one more time! If my partner is sitting on the porch, she just shakes her head at me and waits for me to circle around. I can't remember life without my sweet, sweet buddy!

Alas, I wish my commute were longer too. Mine is a mere mile, roughly 3 minutes. It takes me longer to gear up/gear down than the actual ride. I rode yesterday for the first time in weeks. Ice and snow and freezing weather, plus my boyfriend had a bad accident on the ice, has made riding impossible. (He had a broken ankle, gashed knee, and two surgeries but he will be fine.) The salt/sand left on the roads has me rethinking riding the scoot, though. It may not seem worth having a scooter for such a short ride but the great way I felt when I got home was soooo worth it!!

My commute by car is 14 miles and takes fifteen to twenty minutes. On the Budd, the commute is 19 miles and takes thirty to forty minutes. The difference is that the car commute is 2.5 miles on streets and 11.5 miles on expressways where driving the 65 mph speed limit will have someone riding in your trunk.

Of course, I'd rather ride than drive.

poli, where in south philly are you? I'm right around Springfield myself, off of Baltimore Pike.

My commute is about 22 miles, and can take up to an hour and a half. Using the scoot can take off about 20 minutes of that, but mostly because I cut lines at the light and ride on the shoulder when traffic is slow. Sure is a lot more enjoyable though, no matter how long it takes

My longest (neccessary) commute is about 6 miles to school tuesdays and thursdays. Every other day its 5 to work, so I deffinitely feel the longer commute wish. I do;however, have the oppurtunity, when I have free time, to dick off on a bunch of highspeed back roads that are really twisty. The downside is I get enough time about once a month.

I used to take the 3 train and a long walk to work, which takes about one hour, since the buddy, 30-35 minutes to go the same 6 miles. I had to take the train one day this winter because of snow, I thought I was going to shoot myself...

tam, I live three blocks away from Philadelphia Scooters on Broad Street! And I work at Temple University...on Broad Street! :D I just moved here 4.5 years ago, and this is my first mode of motorized transportation, so I really have no idea where anything outside of Center City, or West, North, and South Philly is located. I really need to buy myself a nice detailed map for when I start exploring in the spring!

Do you ever ride with the Hostile City Scooter Club? I just met a few of them the other day, and they're super nice! Check out their message board and website.

Buy a map? Just use google maps! That's what I do most of the time. I'm about 20 minutes outside of the city, towards the south-west.
Not part of any groups or anything, but thanks for the links, I'll check em out
