I rode home from work the other morning in 27 degrees in shorts and a t-shirt (didn't expect it to be nearly so cold). Worst ride of my life!

Yeah, its my least favorite time of the year for riding now. Its low 30's in the morning and mid 70's in the afternoon so I end up needing two sets of gear.

My bike also goes from running sorta lean, to running very lean since the cold air is denser, which results in less performance... I can't have that, so its time to play with my carburetor for the winter....

I just took out the Battery Tender – we got down to the 30’s this week, at least the sun is out, and during the day its reaching the 70’s – but, no morning rides for this softy.

The temp was within spitting distance of freezing this morning. I switched from the mesh jacket with windbreaking liner to ye olde leather jacket, which worked nicely. I wear a 3/4 helmet with faceshield, which just leaves my chin and cheeks exposed to the wind, so I put on my ear-warmer... but instead of wearing it like a headband and over my ears, I wore it across my lower face, bandito-style. Worked like a charm. I can even warm it up by breathing through my mouth. But I think I'll have to look into wearing warmer socks tomorrow. {brrrr}

Afternoons in the 70s? I wish!

I had the snowmobile gloves on also.
Only thing that got cold were my legs.

I CANNOT WAIT FOR WINTER! Of course winter here is like late spring/summer up north....I love high in the low 70's and lows in the 50's. Every now and then we get a low in the low 30's or upper 20's but that rarely lasts more than a couple of days. No rain and low humidities...and you can actually turn off the AC in the house. After the first cold-snap the mosquitos die off a bit and you can sit outdoors without being eaten alive...
The only negative is the wind...it can be gusty during our winter. I'll live with that though

Born in Cocoa Beach Florida a long time ago and I still hate summer here.

Saturday mid-morning I ran some errands, on Buddy of course. The temp was a blistering 35. I got snowed on! It is supposed to be around 60 deg this time of year. Right now, 3 in the afternoon, it is 36 deg with snow about 40 miles north of me.

30 degrees this morning. Switched to my leather jacket and winter gloves. I have a ff modular helmet so my face was warm enough, though I had to open the shield to keep it from fogging up. Just back and forth to the local golf course. Watch for patches of leaves.

that could my exact post!

hafta wear ski pants over jeans in the a.m. with winter gloves, face mask, heated grips powered up; but in the p.m., it's time to take out the thermopilot jacket liner, back to spring gloves and just a base layer under the jeans. Also, my top speed sucks in the cold!

Gotta love it, no one else does!
I used to say it's my most favored time of year. Operative words, used to.....
Wool, wool and more wool....... Wool hat, wool gloves, wool socks, wool skivvies. Now-a-days, fleece and flannel lined jeans I live in! Silk long undies asr the greatest! I still need some more wind proof type of 'under sweater' for when I ride.

My younger son refused to get on the school bus this morning, his mother called me I drove him in on the scooter, I was WARM....... 37*
He insists on wearing just shorts and a hoodie, I don't think he'll miss the bus tomorrow!! If he does HE rides in his skivvies ONLY!!
