Amerivespa and non Vespa scooters
I'm really interested in going to Amerivespa this year. I am a Blur owner. I know a lot of MB members went this year.
Are there many non-Vespa scooters and how are they received?

If your thinking about it at all...GO! Yes it is Amerivespa but as said above it is THE scooter love fest! In Chattanooga the only thing I didn't see a lot of were maxi scooters
We will be going to San Antonio this year..we need to get together!

Of the non-Vespa/Piaggio scooters at Amerivespa last year, the Buddy was clearly tops.
I wish I could make it again this year, especially since my home state is hosting. My original plan was to trailer to DFW, visit friends, ride to Austin, visit other friends and stay the night, then ride to San Antonio. Great plan; probably not happening. I'm not going to say I won't be there but it's increasingly unlikely. May seems like it's coming up so soon.

Yeah. I'm going to Amerivespa. I have family in Houston and Austin and we're all going to meet in SA if all goes right.lmyers wrote:OP: were you aware the Tornado R'alley has been moved to Memorial weekend? That said, I'm still going to Amerivespa.
BTW, don't bring up the switch with the Mad Toto people. Sore subject. I got flamed pretty bad for pointing out some issues with that. I'm not a member, but I'll support them and pay for the rally even if I can't go.

I was runner up for "best modern scooter" with a pretty much stock Blur in Chattanooga two years ago, for what that's worth. : )
As VCOA's art director, i can officially tell you that ALL scooters and scooterists are VERY welcome. It's usually a bit Vespa-heavy, but modern bikes have outnumbered vintage bikes for the last few years, and Buddys are always there in large numbers.

Last year I went to Amerivespa in Los Gatos; there were a lot of Buddies and other non Vespa modern scooters there, I was welcomed into the flock with my Buddy – and it was fun seeing many members of MB in real life and meeting other people from around the States.
The WF and I are thinking of going TX next summer, trailering our scooters, just might go to San Antonio for Amerivespa as well.

VCOA has an art director?! When did you assume that position? Does it mean you're going to San Antone?illnoise wrote:I was runner up for "best modern scooter" with a pretty much stock Blur in Chattanooga two years ago, for what that's worth. : )

There's talk of Vancouver next year. As you can imagine, city selection is probably highly political and depends on a lot of factors. Having really strong and active local clubs and organizations certainly contribute. Try bribing them. It worked for the SLC Olympics!

Like five, six years ago? Where have you been? : )ericalm wrote: VCOA has an art director?! When did you assume that position? Does it mean you're going to San Antone?
I did several issues of American Scooterist and now Emily in Portland is doing it, but I'm still "Art Director," and occasionally helping out with AS.
We can always use more help with American Scooterist, by the way. We're proud of the quality but the quantity could use some work.
