Hello All,
Still getting use to my International Italia 50cc. I hear different things regarding how much oil to put in. Some say a certain amount because if you put too much in it could hurt the engine. And my friend just pours it in without measuring it and is fine. What is the best path to take?
Thanks,
Amigo

You've got the 50cc with is a 2 stroke. It doesn't have oil like your car does. It's got an oil reservoir that should always have oil in it. The 2 stroke (2T for short) mixes oil with the gas and then burns it. I think most Buddy 50cc owners fill it up every few tanks? Basically, you can't ever let that run dry or you'll be rebuilding the engine with your own money.
I'm assuming you bought your scooter used. If you bought it new, your dealer should really try a little harder to get their customers to understand what they're buying.

Sounds to me like you could be a little confused between engine oil and gear oil.
As the above poster said, you have a tank for oil and in a 2 stroke, this oil gets consumed along with the gas. You need to refill the tank every few hundred miles- get in the habit of checking it when you fill your gas tank.
You also have gear oil. This should be changed at around 500 miles, and then every thousand (could be higher than that, check your manual). For this oil, overfilling can cause problems, and it is important to fill a relatively precise amount. This oil is NOT consumed, and needs to be drained and refilled.
