starting problems

Post by krdirect »

My buddy 50 starts then stalls out. Today I couldnt restart her for 30 minutes. Then for no apparent reason she starts. Anyone else have this trouble? Know why?

When was the last time you rode it?

how often

Post by krdirect »

I ride it about every week or 10 days. It starts, but then it dies! I keep it plugged in to a battery charger in the garage, and I live in California so it's not too too cold. Thanks for any insight!

A few things here.

First, being an east coaster where we have a whole bunch of states taking up the coast instead of three, it's easier to tell where I'm at when I say Virginia. That's just me being silly, but I always get a kick out of folks who try to be specific with their location as being either CA or TX. Alaska would of course win, but I don't think I've ever heard of a scoot over there.

Second, how many miles are on the scoot? Actually... that was my main question. Ignore that whole first part.

Ahh, now we're getting somewhere. Is it under warranty? If it is, stop there and take it into the dealer.

If it's not under warranty, take a look at the idle adjustment on it. Check in with the Rough House Crowd for the specifics on that.

The location thing was to get an idea of your weather. Cold weather likes higher idle speeds on carbureted engines; and you qualify for that. :)

Oh... one thing and this is important. It does have 2-stroke oil in it, correct?

Thank you! It is NOT under warranty b/c I bought it used on craigslist. Yes on the oil. New gas too, the most expensive one. It's about 60 degrees here. No scooter dealer anywhere I can take it nearby without borrowing a pick up truck and driving about an hour. alas..... anything i can try here at home?

I'm not up on my 2T knowledge, so all I can do is point you to a few posts:

Hopefully someone with more experience will chime in. Check out the Rough House section of Modern Buddy, the engine is pretty much the same as the Buddy 50cc.
