Royal Purple Gear Oil SAE 75W-140

Post by jdmarzan »

Can I use this for the motor? Not for the one that mixes with the gas. I keep reading different stuff im getting crazy...lol. If not Im gonna return the case I bought.

I already got a case of the Royal Purple 2-Cycle TCWIII. Oil is EXPENSIVE!

Also exactly how much gear oil should I put when I change oil? Thanks guys.

Not for your motor, this is for your gear oil. You need more like 10w-40 or 5w-40 for the motor. (Assuming you are running a 125?)

You only need around 80 ml for a gear oil change so if you literally bought a case, you should be supplied until the year 3000 or so... :) I would return most of it.

Check the oil change thread in the tech library. I am pretty sure he mentions the weights he uses.

If you are running a 50, ignore me, but I still do not think you use that oil.

Ed is right...the oil you bought is good ONLY for the gear box. If you're riding a 50cc Buddy, use ONLY 2-stroke oil for the gas/oil mixture.

assuming you your talking about the 50cc 2 stroke buddy the Royal Purple 2-Cycle TCWIII well work great (the oil you put in the oil tank)...

as for the 75w140 thats gear oil for the rear of the scoot... a buddy owner should know how much it holds but it very little...
Scoot'in is more fun than beating up your sister, and it comes with a key!!!

Its 90ml. Yeah, a whole case will last till the end of time. I've got 26k miles on my Buddy, and I've only used maybe 4 or 5 containers of gear oil.

Ok to clarify I have a 50cc 2 stroke.! My bad I didn't make that clear in the beggining. So the gear oil is correct at 75w-140? I got a case but there is only 12 in a case. Ima just stock it, saves me the trip to base. So yeah is the gear oil weight right?

Yes, that'll be great for the gear oil. And you'll never have to buy it again :P

Haha yup! It cost me a grip though could have bought some parts. All good though I'm eventually gonna buy it so might as well buy one time in bulk.
