I know it's best to have things warmed up at least a little before changing the oil (better draining); but if it's too icy to ride the scooter, will idling it transfer any heat to the gear oil?
I'm just not sure if the CVT actually moves anything in the gear box without revving high enough to engage the clutch.
Anybody?
Quick question about oil and gear oil change...

You can rev up pretty high on the stand, though it's a bit of a trick. (It's possible rev the scooter off the stand—not good!) I'll step on the extruding part of the center stand, hold the scoot with my left hand and rev with abandon.
If you stand on the right side of the scoot, you can hold the grab bar behind the seat.
But, to he honest, after your first 2K or so on the scooter, I wouldn't worry about changing gear oil with every engine oil change. I do mine about every 4K.
