once again...Roller weights vs Sliders
i have an 07 buddy 125 with the prima pipe, the ncy trans and in a few weeks im putting on the 161cc kit and a new cylinder head. i do lots of highway driving so im looking to get every thing i can off the top end and dont care too much on acceleration. i have 11g sliders in it right now but i know im going to go heaver. how heavy is to heavy? i know the buddy comes stock with 11.5 so if i put 13 or 14g's is that to much? and i talk a lot with the head mechanic at scooterworks in chicago and his opinion is that sliders are pieces of junk. that the only reason they are popular is they have great marketing. so what do you think?

Sliders blow the doors off rollers. They've got smoother acceleration curves and wear slower. I've got 12g's in mine right now and have run Dr Pulley sliders for most of the 27k miles on my bike. I could see even 13g's being good if total top end is what you're going for, depending on which springs you have in the clutch and contra.Milktown wrote:i have an 07 buddy 125 with the prima pipe, the ncy trans and in a few weeks im putting on the 161cc kit and a new cylinder head. i do lots of highway driving so im looking to get every thing i can off the top end and dont care too much on acceleration. i have 11g sliders in it right now but i know im going to go heaver. how heavy is to heavy? i know the buddy comes stock with 11.5 so if i put 13 or 14g's is that to much? and i talk a lot with the head mechanic at scooterworks in chicago and his opinion is that sliders are pieces of junk. that the only reason they are popular is they have great marketing. so what do you think?

I'm in the same boat as you. I just installed my big bore kit. I'm thinking about starting with 13g Dr. Pulley sliders.Milktown wrote:i have an 07 buddy 125 with the prima pipe, the ncy trans and in a few weeks im putting on the 161cc kit and a new cylinder head. i do lots of highway driving so im looking to get every thing i can off the top end and dont care too much on acceleration. i have 11g sliders in it right now but i know im going to go heaver. how heavy is to heavy? i know the buddy comes stock with 11.5 so if i put 13 or 14g's is that to much? and i talk a lot with the head mechanic at scooterworks in chicago and his opinion is that sliders are pieces of junk. that the only reason they are popular is they have great marketing. so what do you think?
