Ride on the back?
Only for very short trips. I'm 5ft tall and hubby is of average male height and maybe a bit heavy. It just isn't comfortable for me. This is coming from someone who spent 1,128 miles in a weekend on the back of a 250 Nighthawk. My feet keep flying out in front of me when I'm on the back of the Buddy. Are them ladies you are picking up with your bikes comfy?

My BF and I ride on the buddy together sometimes. We are both really skinny. I'm only 5'0" and he is 5'9".. its just not a comforatable scoot for long distance riding 2up
I can't imagine how two average size people could possibly work on the buddy with out serious fear of losing someone off the back.
he has a kymco people 150. it has a longer seat and pegs. its more comfortable for riding on the back.. although...my favorite ride is each of us on our own!

There's no way the wife & I would fit on a Buddy. She's 5' 9" and I'm 5' 11"; both around average weight (well, maybe not for Los Angeles, but hell). As is, it's a little small for me solo. For 2 up, we have to take the Vespa.

I just wanna say it is MY bike but the Mr keeps trying to "borrow" it when he has two motorcycles of his own. I should have my learner's permitt this week then if he's lucky, I might let him follow me around on his Nighthawk 250. I told him he could have a Buddy also, but he would have to get rid of a motorcycle.

My wife and I commute(5 miles) to work together on our Buddy. As I normally drive, she's normally in the back, but says it's not terribly comfortable, especially due to the funky angle she has to put her ankles at to use the foot rests.
As far as performance, the Buddy seems to do just fine. Obviously it accelerates slower, but we can still hit 45-50 just fine and still have enough "oomph" to stay up with traffic easily.
I wouldn't recommend it for more than a few miles max. I will say that there's been a few times when the wind has really picked up while riding double that have made me quite nervous/unstable feeling. I can't bring myself to buy a windshield though(don't like the look), so we just try to avoid riding on days we know it's going to be super windy. We've also taken the scenic route through more residential areas, which cuts down on the wind a bit and seems to help.
