Bought this in 1996 or '97. Still wear it, still fits (still XL!)

Just don't wear that around Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Mr. Watterson doesn't appreciate unauthorized use of his characters (and aside from the reprint books of his comics, they're all unauthorized).

I don't know if you're being serious or not, but it is true that he isn't a sellout and all the products are unauthorized, from your "cute" t-shirt to the stickers of Calvin urinating on << insert noun >>. If I were you, I'd burn that shirt out of respect to Watterson's wishes.

You make your own choices. But I have too many friends who make their living from what they create to disrespect a cartoonist's copyrights.

I think that is the point. Using someone else's artwork without permission is commonly done in Asia, it's just not okay here.

Okeh, folks, that's enough of the lecturing please. I make my living off design, illustration and writing so am all for respecting the rights of creatives and others. And yes, "unlicensed" was the first thing I thought of when I saw the Calvin shirt. But there's no need to get condescending or pile on someone because of it. He likes the shirt. I like it too, though I wouldn't buy one.

But, hey, kudos to those of you who've managed to make it this far in the digital age without having downloaded illegally copied music, ripped a copy of a friend's CD, bitstreamed a movie or TV show, watched unauthorized subs of anime, loaded unlicensed software or fonts onto your computer, photocopied material without proper permissions or having otherwise violated copyright, trademark, intellectual property or other rights designed to protect creative works.

Let's move on.

Maybe this was too subtle.

I think this is a fun thread and would like to be able to let it continue without locking it.

So I've gotten rid of the little "gettin' up in each other's grills" exchange that followed my post and if we can't continue without getting uppity I'll yank the whole thread.

'Kay? Thanks.

I have the 2SB "Flip Flops" shirt and love it too. One of my faves.

My abso fave is this one I made. It only gets worn on special occasions, away from work and children.

Oops I missed this. Yeah, it was Cafepress, they have a couple different styles. I got a baseball-style shirt with blue sleeves.
