The difference between MSRP and OTD price is tax, freight, dealer prep fees, and (depending on the state) registration. The Series Italia MSRP is $2699. So $360 over that isn't unheard of or unreasonable. I doubt buying elsewhere and shipping in would net much more in savings. Is there another dealer in FL close enough that you could go pick it up?

There are other benefits from buying from a local dealer. It pays to have a good relationship with your dealer, who you'll be relying on for service, parts, etc.

Where did you see 2007 Buddys—Series Italia or not—for $2000 in the Midwest? Seems highly unlikely to me.

Also, please, the Caps Lock is unnecessary. Thanks.

thats about what I saw locally (midwest). I would use your local dealer, like ericcalm said, it pays to develop a relationship with your dealer not to mention support your local community. The few extra $ we may spend at the shop as opposed to ordering elsewhere pay off in the great customer service we get in return. This is not to say that if I find my cheap dream basket on the internet I wil pass it up

hey, maxxim58, ericalm is right about the variables of your location, dealer prep, registration, tax, license and tabs. here in seattle it added a hefty $900 to the actual price of the SI. talk about sticker shock! LOL but it is what it is. ;)

ita agree with eric (again) and peabody99 about developing a relationship of your dealer. for us non-do-it-youselfers, they *will* be your primary lifeline to the health and well-being of your scooter, and by extention, you.

that said, if anyone here is in the seattle area and thinking about purchasing a buddy, get yourself over to ducati seattle. its always like 'cheers' when you walk in...everybody knows your name. :) and no one is ever too busy to stop and talk for a moment, owners included. they are a small dealership with a dedicated long-term clientele, which speaks volumes.

there is no way any dealer is going to sell any Buddy 125 for $2000, let alone an Italia (my dealer cant even keep them in stock right now, and he is in the Midwest). $3k sounds reasonable.

Remember that these arent cars. There are no hidden rebates to the dealer, and their margin isnt that good to begin with. I doubt you will ever find a scooter that is in demand like a Buddy (or Vespa, or Kymco, etc...) that is priced at MSRP or below. There is the rare case, but in general (and this applies to the whole powersports industry) there are no price breaks off the asking price. It is what it is.

Yeah, best bet for a bargain on a Buddy may be a deal on an '06 or a used one.

Seeing this thread reinforces the idea in my head that it was a good idea to go local and bite the bullet, paying the bigger buck, but getting the better scooter, and awesome dealer service.

Pride of Cleveland is an awesome shop with awesome help. I love that place.

If I get the loan on mine, it will be for ~$3030 and some change, counting all the taxes and titling and registration and so on.

EDIT: and delivery, of course.
