Two Up Speed?

Post by Kuboshi »

Sorry if its been posted, but I couldn't find it wit the search feature :O

I'm planning on getting a 125cc, because I heard it could get up to 65mph? pretty sweet... but I was wondering how it would fare with two people!

I'm 190lbs and my girl is 100lbs, so I'm wondering, does anyone have any experience with a weight range around this much? I'm hoping it could still hit 60mph, as speed limit here is actually 50 on the roads!

Also, I heard all scooters speedometer readouts are 10% optimistic? Does this apply to the Buddy as well?

I weigh about 160, my beautiful lady about 100. I can get my buddy a little north of 50 mph with the both of us on there, but only about 40 going uphill. I'm sure once I break it in a little more it may pickup some more speed, right now I try to stay away from holding full throttle down for too long because my buddy is so new. (I really shouldn't be exploring full throttle at all).

10% optimistic. That sounds about right. Usually when I drive by those speed signs at an indicated 50, it says 45 or so.

My wife and I can hit an indicated 55-60 on a flat straight away with lots of room to get there.

We hit an indicated 50 with no problem.

I weigh 190 and my wife is 115 and we can hit 55 indicated on flats. I have tested my speedo with gps and mine is off about 10 miles per hour at whatever speed i'm going. I have also tested following my wife in her car and the same holds true.

she might need to get one of her own

if she doesn't know how, she could spend a fun filled w/e at a msf course learning. it doesn't take long to find out if you don't wanta, it'll take all weekend learning how (to learn  ).

:!:    :!:

o she wants to, its just negotiating wit her parents, we're still young college kids after all haha...

Still, so it should hit around 40-45mph is what I'm getting, because of the 10% optimistic readings, thats pretty damn good for a 125 - I'm excited haha. Off topic though, is there any way to get taht speedometer to read accurately or am I better off just getting a GPS? - as that would help me avoid freeways as well?

i'm about to sound like a witch, but really i'm just very sarcastic and have the summer off :) : take a math class and practice figuring 15-20 % tipping at the local bars and eateries, after a while you'll be able to take off that extra 10% at 60mph instantly.

i read accurate speedos are cost prohibitive in a $2500 scooter.

ya'll have fun and be careful. sounds like she'll hop on the front of that scooter anyway. get her study the books about riding if she doesn't take a course. experience can be disfiguring.

Yeah, i have a feeling I won't be the only driver :(

No worries about the math thing, I'm the one always doing tip when we eat out haha, I just... woulda prefered something quick and accurate but a little extra mind work never hurt anyone I suppose, thx a lot though!

Several members of this board (myself included) weigh more than you and your passenger combined, and we've pegged 60-65+ indicated. But as always, YMMV.
