New user w/ a question

Post by Cashew_halves »

Hello, my name is Matt. I just purchased a sunrise orange buddy 50 the other day and have joined the board to find out more about it. I'm having trouble finding how much oil it can hold. Also, I'm having trouble finding out what kind of oil I should be using. Thank you. Matt.

Your headlight is always on. The switch should be changing from low to high beam. The wattage is the same at both settings so it will not be brighter, just point farther up the road.

The one on the right has been disabled. This is so the Buddy complies with USDOT requirements that the headlight be on at all times. This is also why there are additional turn signals on the handlebars.

Yeah, the light switch that appears to do nothing actually does...nothing. It's a holdover from markets outside the US.

As far as oil for the 50 goes, you want the best quality 2 stroke oil available. I like the stuff that smells like strawberries but I can't remember the name. Figure on a liter of oil setting you back about 10 bucks. Go to a scooter or motorcycle dealership, you should have a few choices there. If the Buddy is anything like my old Mojito, it'll hold about 3/4 of that liter bottle when the reservoir is empty. Just pour the oil in slowly. While you don't have to worry about overfilling a 2 stroke with oil you do have to worry about spilling.

RE: oil

I ride my scooter for two or three days after the oil light comes on and stays on (maybe a total of 20-30 miles). Then over to my dealer for a quart/liter of the two stroke oil he sells for about $9. My oil tank usually takes almost the whole bottle. I usually get about 600 miles before having to refill.

Does the Buddy 50 have something on the right side grip that the Buddy 125 doesn't have?

On my Buddy 125 I only have the stop engine switch on the right side grip.
