Purchasing Advice - 2009 Blackjack vs 2012 125cc (white)
Help!
I'm craving a new scooter to replace my old Buddy 50cc. I located a 2009 Blackjack with an OTD of $3415, but I'll have to pay for towing as I live 1.5 hours away. I can get into a 2012 White Buddy 125cc for $3200 OTD, but was hoping to get an "all cash" discount from my local dealer. Both sales include free winter storage. Is the Blackjack rare and hard to come by? Any advice?

There is no question here:The Blackjack. You are lucky you even found a new one. If you dont buy it you will be kicking yourself later. More power. Front and rear suspension upgrades, and from what I hear thats the best thing about the bike. Add on a performance pipe and you have a Blackjack. Hell Im jealous!!!!!!!!! Wait. Dont forget the badass matte black finish. Very cool bike.

I'd have to agree. Even me, the anti-black-vehicles girl, would go for the Blackjack in that scenario. Have the dealer you buy it from store it for winter, and pick it up in the spring when you can just drive it back yourself. OR pick it up in the spring with a friend with a pickup.
Hey... would Genuine's roadside assistance cover the towing for this?
Even if they do, I still say have it stored at the dealer for the winter and pick it up in the spring.

As long as you take a couple breaks to cool it down and don't go WOT, I think it'd be fine. What's the max speed if you don't take the tollway? 45 or 50 maybe? If so, perfect.reese wrote:LOL - yes not too bad. Did I mention it's 1.5 by tollway. I'm not sure if a 2 - 2.5 ride into the city would be good or bad for breaking in. Hmmmmm?Lokky wrote:1.5 hours doesn't sound too far to ride to meget the blackjack!

That would be a bit "shifty" IMHO to get roadside assist. to do this, but whatever.

I absolutely agree... but IMO, "free" is always an option that should be exploredRaiderfn311 wrote:TVB wrote:As I understand, it covers towing to the nearest dealer, so you'd have to ride it at least halfway home, or they'd just take you back where you got it.LunaP wrote:Hey... would Genuine's roadside assistance cover the towing for this?

Reese, let us know whichever you end up deciding to do!

Both of those scoots have carbs. Much easier to tune if ever going to get parts that change intake/exhaust flow.DaBinChe wrote:I'd go for the F.I. bike
I'd definitely get the Blackjack.
Either way rent a trailer to bring it home. If you don't have anything to tow it with rent a minivan and take the seats out. Or rent a small moving van. Whatever is cheaper.

This. You can rent a Ford Van or a pickup from Uhaul for $20-$30 plus gas. The dealer should be able to help you load it. Just get some tie downs and make the trip on a Saturday morning.SuperFlyBuddy wrote:Both of those scoots have carbs. The blackjack is an awesome bike. The suspension and break upgrades are well worth the extra couple hundred dollars. If you don't like the color, ask your dealer to order you a new set of red/pink/green/whatever color body panels. The new panels are cheap(-ish), and you'll have a custom, unique scoot to brag about!

Thanks for the advice
I'm glad I waited. My local dealer got a hold of 2 Blackjack demos and 3 2009 125's. After a lot of hemming and hawing, I decided to get a 125 and switch out the panels to white. It cost a little less than a Blackjack, but I have a color I like. Plus, I was never a huge fan of the loud perfomrance pipe on the Blackjack.
If you are looking for a Blackjack, Scooterworks in Chicago has 2 - at least they did on Saturday.
All demos come with the 2 year warranty. Sweet!
