Suspension Squeaking?

Post by LunaP »

So, just wondering if this has ever happened to anybody else... but in the last week, week and a half or so, Sailor Scoot has started squeaking. It seems to be coming from the suspension, since it's every time the scoot goes over a bump. At first it was just if it was a harsh bounce... the sitting-at-a-light-trying-to-trigger-it bounce, or a manhole cover I wasn't expecting, something like that. It's been happening more often since, like over areas the city has patched ten times instead of just re-paved and its super bumpy. But yesterday i wasn't wearing my Schampa (facemask, it goes over my ears) and I noticed if I listen very closely I could hear it faintly just while I was riding on the cobblestone near our apartment.

Thoughts/advice? I'll also be calling Scoot Richmond from work later, but if anybody has any experience with this or an at-home remedy I'll try it... I guess I am maybe hoping something just needs a bit of lube somewhere. :?

I had it on Zumi a little. Turns out he just needed a bath! In my case the suspension was just dusty.

My 'squeak' turned out to be my center stand.......
Everything just needed a bath and a squirt some sort of 'anti-squeak'

LUBE!

God, I always wanted to answer a post with that...Thank you

Either a rubber stop came off the centerstand, or something got a little too dry.

+1 Center stand squeak is fairly common. Happened to me (I thought is was the suspension too) and a little grease solved the problem.

 You're welcome, Viney

That's very interesting. I'll give her a good bath soon and use a lil of Lokky's WD-40 or graphite lube. I had also noticed occasionally the center stand wouldn't return all the way up when I rolled her off of it, and I'd have to nudge it up with my foot. I figured they were two different issues, maybe they're related. We'll go investigating.

But it's a relief to know my shocks aren't flipping out on me! Thanks everybody :D

Yeah, when things get dry a little lube usually does the trick. :)
