Failing starter/solenoid?

Hey folks, mechanical question here:

On Friday morning I went to start my scooter and when I did the ignition spun normally but did not engage the engine. I tested compression with the kickstart and when I felt there was pressure, I went back to the electric start and it caught and started normally.

Now this morning it did the same thing, starter went but didn't engage the engine. I waited a second, hit it again, and it started normally.

Does anyone have experience with this and what could be causing it? And the price to replace it and difficulty of getting to it if someone has had to? Thanks for the help
