What do you do with all of your oil changing gear?

What do you do with your funnel & syringes, pan etc.? I just did my 200 mile gear oil change (only a 50) and now I have "sort of" clean tools just sitting in a plasitic bag for 2k more miles?

I'm also seeing all the metal flecks & crap in there and I'm wondering if @ the 500 mile point it should be done again either by me or the dealer as part of the 500 mile service. There has to be some crap left in there since it's not a oil flush and just a drain and fill.

"Sort of clean tools"? First thing is to really clean them, then put them away most anywhere you have space. Then buy a gallon of OJ, or tea, or any drink that comes in a relatively solid plastic container; chug it down and start storing your used gear oil in the empty container. When it's nearly full, bring it to Pep Boys or Auto Zone, or similar, drain it there and return with the empty container to start over again.

And yeah, I would personally change the gear oil in another 1000 miles or so, unless the flakes are the size of cornflakes; if so, I'd take a sample to your dealer.

Have 'em in a carport storage. I have no big tools and such. It's a bit messy in there, and the termites leave wood dust all over so I keep the stuff tarp covered.

They sit in the oil drain tray in the corner on a scrap of carpet, next to the 5 gallon used oil container I fill then recycle.

I wipe them off/out as best a possible with shop towels & store them with my drain pan near the used oil recycling jug I got from Walmart or empty 2 liter soda bottles

YES. Us a plastic bag, tie or seal the top, put on shelf for next time.

You will see what looks like glitter in the used oil. That's normal and to be expected. Continue on the scheduled service intervals.

I wipe them down and then put them into a brown paper grocery bag. If there's any leftover oil dripping off of anything, the bag will soak it right up.

I have a FloTool Gas and Chemical MixMizer (cheap from Wally World) for the gear oil. I can get 45 ml in the MixMizer without a problem, two of those make the 80-90 ml that are supposed to go in for a gear oil change.

I use a long, skinny funnel for the engine oil.

I use a disposable metal baking pan for draining, as long as it can hold about 1 qt of old oil. The short metal baking pans fit under the scooter a lot better than a large car drain pan, and I can just throw away the pan after I drain the oil into a larger old-oil container for proper disposal.

I wipe the MixMizer and the long, skinny funnel clean with a shop rag or paper towels, and they are ready for the next change in another 2,000 miles.
