HELP WON'T START

HELP WON'T START
I bought a 2007 Buddy 50 yesterday. Guy I bought it from said only reason we could't start it was dead battery. Has 113 miles on it and was cheap so it put a new battery in, and still wouldn't start. I took the carb off and took it apart. It was full of crud. Disassembled, and cleaned throughly. Jets are now open, good fuel flow to the bowl, needle works properly, float valve operates properly, etc. The only way I can get it to start is by spraying starter fluid into the carb. Starts right away then, but dies when starter fluid exhausted. Took the carb off again today and cleaned even better than yesterday, inspected again, reinstalled, and still the same. I have no idea what to do next, and have reached my frustration threshold. All help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Did you start at the fuel source and clean your way to the carb? There could still be clogged fuel lines, fuel filter and maybe a tad bit of bad fuel still in the lines. I of course am assuming this has been sitting for awhile, and not knowing the maintenance of the seller, you may also want to get into the air box and check the air filter. And is this a 2T or 4T?

You didn't mention a new spark plug....If you haven't do so.
Also, the one thing people miss is the electric choke circuit. Make sure that is open. If that is clogged it won't start easily.

New spark plug, and as I said it starts right away with starter fluid. The electric choke circuit in the carb body is clean. The brass tube that hold the needle in the electric choke came off the 3 prongs on the assembly. I reinstalled when I put the carb back together, How do you check the electric choke?
