Boots?

I am patiently awaiting the arrival of my new 50cc Orange Buddy and wondering what boots people ride with? Brands, Models, links would be really helpful.

I searched the forum and didn't see anything related specifically to boots and thought it would be a good resource for others.

I am going to try the Sidi Doha boot...it's a short boot but suppose to have good protection.

Mostly US Army issue boots manufactured 10-89 that I bought new at the Clothing Sales Store. What can I say? They haven't worn out yet!

Many people have had great luck with ankle high hiking boots. Easy to find, reasonably priced and more pleasant to walk around in than dedicated riding boots--although I have a couple pairs of riding boots that are plenty comfortable, just not cheap.

Thanks for the input - I have a decent pair of hiking boots I will wear for now until I can get some decent Dr. Martens or riding boots.

Old habits die hard. I tend to gravitate towards motorcycle specific boots for all my riding, even though it's probably overkill for a scooter. Good moto boots are designed to stay on your foot during a slide. It doesn't really matter how strong your boots are if they fly off in a crash. As I've said before, I also won't wear any footwear with exposed and dangling laces.

I like Sidi boots but mainly because they fit my feet better than Oxtars or other brands. My Sport Tepors are great on the bikes and comfortable for walking around. They also don't look like space boots.

Find something that fits and protects.

A Buddy can go 60+ mph, how is a motorcycle boot overkill? I never ride without mine!

Exactly. In the eyes of the law it is a motorcycle after all and it's capable of speeds that can kill or maim you if you're careless. And that's not even considering all the other idiots out there.

I think about what I'm wearing before every ride. I base my decisions on where I'm going, the speeds, traffic patterns, whether I'll be walking any distances, all kinds of things. There are times I don't wear riding pants and there are times I don't wear a jacket. Helmet always, boots and gloves 99%. Think about what you're doing and the potential consequences and dress accordingly.

I tend to wear my Bates Enforcers, or my waterproof MC boots when it's raining, when I scoot.

[ Hm, anyone have posts simply disappearing from threads? I replied to this but now it's gone! Who runs this kooky site, anyway? Oh, uh... ]

I have a couple pair of boots that I ride in but my general, everyday ones are these Pumas. These are not lightweight, "fashion" boots—they're very heavy and sturdy leather with good soles. Also very comfortable and I can stand around in them for hours if needed.

Unfortunately, they no longer make these. If I could find another pair, I'd buy them as backups or when these wear out in a couple more years.

Thanks for all the information - it has been helpful. I am looking for a safe boot that is versatile enough to be worn all day.
I am thinking the Diadora Express boots will fit both needs.

Looks like a good choice 10gallon. I usually wear my Icon Motorheads, they are the only MC boots I could find in white, and color does make a difference in 102 degree sunshine! If not those I wear my work boots, bates steel toe enforcers. Always remember...the asphalt doesn't care what you came off of when you hit it!
