New MRP Exhaust on my 150.
I got everything on today and it is so much louder than I expected.
Is this normal? (It could rival a harley IMO)
It also seems to backfire when I let off the gas ie. coming to a stop. Its not loud but it gives me a couple of pops before settling in again.
I now seem to have a small bit of gas coming from somewhere up high in the scooter under the seat. Nothing was leaking before and the gas cap was on tight.
Any opinons on what I should do now? I love the look of the exhaust but wasn't expecting it to be quite so loud or have the "problems" that I seem to be having. I read that I might need to adjust the jets but I am not sure of what that means or how to do it or how to tell if I have done it right.
Thanks for all the help!

Generally, the exaust will tone down a bit as miles accrue.....the muffler internals get carbon coated and it quiets it down some.
Is the exaust leaking at the engine or pipe connection?
With a cold pipe, and a rag nearby, start the engine and then jam the rag against the outlet.....if you hear any leakage, like where the pipe bolts to the head, this must be addressed......the gasket may have slipped on installation or a bit of the old gasket is still in the exaust port.
Any leakage will obviously make your system sound too loud and any leakage will cause afterfire.
That is the popping on deceleration you hear.
All exaust contains a bit of unburned fuel......any air leak in the exaust will allow the fuel to ignite.....hence, afterfire.
Till that is resolved, don't mess with the carb mixtures.
Good luck,
Rob

This is the first I have heard of a pipe for the Buddy other than the Prima.
But, if you are hearing popping, chances are there's an exhaust leak. Usually up at the manifold.
Did you make the sure the round crush gasket was OK and in place?
Any time I take my Prima pipe off, I use a gasket sealer when I re-install. I don't replace the gasket each time; I re-use it as long as it's intact but I put a bead of Permatex Ultra Copper gasket maker around the pipe flange, too.
Please post a pic of your MRP pipe on the scooter!

gasket
Ok only the one gasket that came with the exhaust. We do not have any sealer on it. I asked but we thought maybe it was not supposed to so we didn't worry about it. I will get some gasket sealer tomorrow and see if that makes a difference. I am thinking that may be the issue because the gasket had a bit of "blow out" dust on it so I assume there is a leak and a little sealer will help clear that up.
I was thinking there might be something from around the pipe and the muffler but that seems to be fairly quiet.

There is not really a liquid gasket maker available that will not burn away when used on an exhaust manifold. In past I've used rtv to hold a gasket in place while I torqued the manifold. I used the carbon flat gasket that came with the prima pipe and so far no problemo. Most exhaust leaks are caused by Improper prep, improper install , or a fastener failure. If an exhaust leak is not repaired promptly it can erode the mating surfaces and ruin them as well as burn a valve.

That's an awesome looking exhaust! I like the looks of it much better than the Prima Pile. I wonder what model number that is and where to order it from. Also, how does it sound and how does it affect performance. I imagine you have to re-jet with this just like the Prima.
But the previous video scares me away from MRP products.
