American American Pickers Danielle Colby Cushman

Post by ScootLemont »

American Pickers is one of my "must see" shows - I find my self hoping for an old motorcycle or scooter to be found in a barn ever week (turns out its just every other week)

Here is a photo from Danielle's Facebook page I though scooterist might enjoy

I have such a girl crush on her. This is how I envision myself looking on my powder blue Stella, sadly it's not quite the same, lol :|
I'm outdoorsy in that I like getting drunk on patios.

I know she's already married but if she wasn't, I'd marry that woman over the phone!

I think she's hot but it's my personal contention that there's nothing a woman can ink into her skin that makes her more beautiful that she is already.

I should point out that the photo was arranged by Dean, who's opened a new vintage restoration shop in the Quad Cities (IL/IA border) area. He's a great guy and does amazing work (won two awards at Amerivespa, and IMHO shoulda won more) and he's been featured on the show a couple times when they've found old scooters.

http://www.gransportcycles.com/

He printed up the posters and sold them to help raise money to get the shop started, but since then, he's seen people posting (and worse, selling) copies of the poster w/o his shop info on it, and he was kind of upset to see that some posters he'd arranged for danielle to sign were being resold at a higher price by a third party on ebay, so PLEASE don't buy the posters on ebay, I think you can still get 'em from Dean.

Funny story: I went to the second Quad Cities rally, which was a really small rally but lots of fun, and every bike there was just amazing, perfect paint, really interesting customization, ran great. Then they had the awards and I won "Best Vespa" and I was like "NO WAY do I have the best Vespa here, what the hell?" and they said "Oh, Dean did all those, they're disqualified because he's in our club."
2strokebuzz: When news breaks, we put it under a tarp in the garage.

I was at the Knuckledraggers rally in 2009 (the Iowa scooter rally) Danielle and her friends did a burlesque show. Man-O-man you should of seen the dance she did.

The Saturday ride ended at the American Pickers warehouse/store and both Danielle and Mike (the skinny one) met and greeted everyone there. Mike even showed for the Saturday night party on his Lambretta.

Thought it looked familiar!

I believe Gran Sport was also responsible for the custom fender light in the AV concourse.

Apparently, I need to start watching this show. And burlesque? At a scooter rally? WHY THE HELL HAVE WE NOT THOUGHT OF THIS.

Well, in general, one doesn't want to be insensitive to the growing number of under-represented riders: Women. Not all women are cool with burlesque. Most are, of course.

The best scooter party I attended this year had strippers. It was at a mechanic's shop... kind of a "Grand Opening" party. There were a fair amount of motorcycle people, and hundreds of moped people there (the Dead Peds rally was here, that weekend). But everyone was respectful of the strippers, and they only got down to very small bikinis. They did pretty well, money-wise. :)

Most draw a big line between burlesque and stripping. There was a burlesque show at Amerivespa New Orleans, with a scooter on the stage, ha.

Sure, and with good reason. However, the strippers at the party I mentioned never really stripped -- they had on bikinis, and did gymnastics using a stripper's pole, and had people throwing dollar bills at them -- no touching, no disrespect of any kind, which surprised me, knowing the host of the party.

To me, there's an easy way to fix that... have male burlesque performers also. Of course, that would scare all the guys away, because manly men can't handle other dudes being nekkie, but women don't care. *snicker* I think it's funny. I tease, but really... I think the issue is, across the board, everybody finds the female form more aesthetically pleasing than the male form, regardless of sexuality. I think women were just made that way. Plus, scooters and pin-up girls just go together, don't they? :P

TL:DR - don't be silly, everybody likes boobs!

One of the largest anime conventions here on the east coast, held in Baltimore, started having a dual-gender, anime and video game themed burlesque a couple years back. I thought it was the best idea ever, and the first year they did it, it was!! But I think the first year they actually spent money contracting a burlesque troupe or something, and after that they found experienced amateur volunteers or something and it was... very sub-par compared to the first year. Just hasn't been the same.
