My life could be a lot worse, no question about that. But running down your list, I have instead: a poorly-fitting dead-end job, a scooter that runs but unsafe riding weather 1/4 of the year, my art career is going nowhere, and the person I love was taken from me 12 years ago. So I reserve the right to piss and moan a little.

Another thing that sucks are those Christmas letters you get from people going on and on and on about how great their lives are :P

The only Christmas letter I've received in recent years talked instead about various sad events in their family. Unfortunately, it was from a relative.

1. People who have never ridden in a group not staggering
2. The same people that have never ridden in a group riding at the front of the pack.
3. Blind spots
4. Train tracks, pot wholes, open man whole covers, man whole covers that have those deep ruts
5. Trash in the road. (I.E.) mattresses, 2 by 4's, nails, bolts, any thing that might cause a flat tire
6. Drivers on cellphones.
7. Drivers eating
8. Drivers reading
9. Drivers changing the radio station, choosing a song on the iPod

Sure, I'll play for the moment:

-FAFSA, when it comes to financial aid law changes and the millionaires who dictate them. It's bad when you find the IRS helpful and considerate in comparison to FAFSA "employees" (in fact, the IRS WERE quite nice to me this week)
-Musicians who think they can tell you your house mix from BEHIND the mains and insisting on their crappy Behringer stage monitor instead of my kit. I'll believe your "better ear" when you can afford a real monitor from something other than a big-box store.
-"Haboob". I hate that word. Everyone in Arizona now uses it. What's wrong with "Dust Storm"?
-Why they killed the Yamaha C3 without putting a bigger motor instead in it. Seriously, a 100-125cc would of been perfect! (Yeah, I kind of liked the looks of it)
-Not having a bike. Sucks.
-Producers who have a hard time understanding that "Due Friday" on an invoice doesn't mean "Get it to me around Tuesday-ish after you've paid your musicians and got around to paying the bar tab for the party after". Going to suck for them to find no PA when they get to the club tomorrow...

Ya know, I do feel a bit better :)

I still catch myself thinking about it, especially with the pressure of financial aid being MUCH smaller this year due to grants being cut like mad. The average VERY low mileage C3 is about $1500. And, as I've said before about Japanese design I *really* like the bold bikes. The PCX, the C3... the quirky anime-ish bikes appeal to me as much as the Vespa design. I just don't like the "me too/retro-ish" constant that is around in many scooters. Even bikes like Kymco where you cannot fault their engineering if you tried kind of are "meh" on me. They either look boring-modern or retro-ish.

The C3 is proud that it's different, but not in a garish way. I dig that. It's not a bike for everyone to be sure, but I'm looking for a utility bike to compliment the impending Stella project. And, 9 gallons of storage, fuel injection and liquid cooling are as utility as it gets. I'm just *really* leery of the 50cc commute again. I'm sure I can do it, but I have to put my desire for power aside to know I will have a bike that will start every morning.

And, it's cheap from a great builder. That's a plus.

Here's a thread from TotalRuckus about dropping a 150cc GY6 powertrain into a C3. Might make it a bit more useful...
http://totalruckus.com/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 92&t=27043

Though I wonder if the powertrain from a 125cc Zuma or Vino would fit under there (less power, more reliability). I recall that the 250cc Morphus would take the 400cc powertrain from a Majesty as a nearly drop-in fit.

Something else that sucks? How about clown drivers who, for some inexplicable reason, refuse to drive behind a scooter. You know the type. It doesn't matter if you are booking along at or above the speed limit. They just have to pass you. Just because. Like the idiot last night who recklessly passed me on the double yellow because . . . just because. Does he then zoom beyond view over the horizon hell-bent on reaching a hospital or fire or some other dire emergency? No, of course not. He putts along slower than I had been going. Only now, he is not behind my scooter. Just because.
just happened to me yesterday on the way home from running an errand in Hershey, PA on 422 where 2 lanes merge into 1...older driver in a blue Chevy something or other passed me and then slows WAY down all the way into Palmyra...I had lots of fun with the throttle unintentionally climbing his ass and backing off! I was so tempted to STEBEL his butt when he turned off, but regained my composure!!!

other stuff...inferior road construction/repairs, PA state safety inspections on virtually that goes VROOM (money making scheme), local speed traps, drivers who park on my ass at red lights (no matter what I'm riding/driving)...

a recent occurance...I pulled into a local gas-n-go for food and had several smartallecks on crotch rockets make fun of the scooter before I ride off (I live @ 2miles way); I park the scoot, fire up the motorcycle and go back to gas-n-go (for a top off and some fun with the smartallecks)wearing the same riding gear and waddayaknow...no smartass comments this go around!!! basically my gripe on this one is people's attitudes towards scooters/scooter riders!!!

My ghetto trash neighbors who threw a lit cigarette onto my scooter. Burned a dime-sized hole in the cover, but thankfully, managed to not damage the scoot at all. This time.

Same ghetto trash neighbors deciding to do some engine work on their rusting hulk and spilling what appears to be an entire engine full of oil in the parking lot. In my (unassigned) spot.

People who walk their dogs on other people's property, allowing them to pee, poop, and dig up spots, and then just walk away. I love dogs. But man, do I hate me some dog owners.
