I have an SYM HD200 with over 11,000 absolutely troublefree miles. 80 mph (indicated) and 85 mpg.

As for the rest, stereotyping isn't reserved strictly for males. I would sometime like to share with you the story of my sweetheart's son. The abuse he has endured at the hands of his wives is heartbreaking at best. He is broken and prays everyday that God just take him. And yet his love for women has never been taken from him and his 5 daughters love him dearly. That we all could be so forgiving.

I'm done here. I don't want to precipitate an argument...I just want to see more understanding and rational thought. Knee jerk reactions serve no positive purpose.

Your right. My mother was an incredibly abusive person, treated my dad horribly and no one would have ever believed it... She looked oh so perfect, and my dad died at 58. I try to tray everyone equally with respect and that's about all anyone can do.

So you like the HD200? I know this sounds silly, as I did test one out and I found it very nice.... But the styling. Or maybe the colors. I like the red, but am weary of speeding tickets. Not a speed demon, but I had a red car... Drove the same way I always did and racked up four speeding tickets in two years. Since ditching the red, I have not had a speeding ticket in 20 years. They don't have the navy ... I can order it, but it will cost more, the dealer has a red and a silver one on the floOr and is offering a very good deal On them. But that is the most boring silver. I love the two tone Kymco People colors, and I love the Buddy colors. Any suggestions to spruce up the silver? I like the more retro styled scooters, but I have to admit that for what a want, the HD200 is excellent. Have not entirely ruled out the Wolf but I like the convenience of the scooter.

I had hoped the styling would grow on me but it really hasn't. I had a People 150 and it was a good bike. Comparatively slow and the ride wasn't nearly as nice a the SYM. I have, however, determined that as a practical bike, the SYM would be damnably hard to beat. I have the red one and haven't been stopped...yet...but I've only had it for two years. I also have one of those silly looking top cases on it, so maybe now it just looks like a grocery-getter.

Sorry for your pain. I definitely feel you on the job front. I'm currently underemployed myself, and glad to have gotten what I did. In my case, I think my age (nearly 53) worked against me but who knows.

If seeing the ad offends you then don't buy it. I know that SYM has a good reputation for quality products but have never personally owned any of them myself.

I CAN tell you from personal experience that both Honda and Suzuki make quite good motorcycles but have no idea what you might find in some of their ads.

I don't think I've seen any ads for the Suzuki 250s that appeared sexist at all. Neither do I think that the Honda CBR250R has such an ad.

These are the smallest street offerings from either of these two manufacturers in the U. S. to my knowledge.

It's not that I find he ad particularly offensive..l in its place. If it was a guys magazine, then fine. And I know that it is mostly guys that probably read the cycle mag. My point was more that it is a product that would have a wider appeal then the ad would imply. I think they are missing out on a larger group of possible customers. But I can deal with it. Just like going into the guitar store... There was the guy who ignored me forever, then asked if I was buying strings for a guy, then tried to show me a $100 beginner classical guitar. I said thank yu, butninthink I will look for a while. Another young man was very nice to me, very informative, did not make assumptions and as a result he got the sale for a Fulltone tape echo that I had been lusting for for quite a while. And they are on commission. I don't waste peoples time. I do my research... And I don't waste gas. When I finally go to the place, I'm buying. If they ignore me... It's their loss.

And Keys... The styling hasn't grown on you either? Sigh. I was hoping I'd warm up to it. What you said was pretty much what I got when I tests them out. Too bad the Sym doesn't look like the People... Then it would be the best of both. The Sym just felt so much better, goes faster, and oh well. Not thatbinplan on going 80+ but several people who know St Louis mentioned that if I got one that had more power than the People means I could ride up ate Great River Road... And yes, that would be really lovely. I am so bad. I printed photos of the silver one out on drawing paper and was adding different color to the fenders, stripes, etc, to see if I'd find a combination that made me go wow. Maybe I'll just do the red, at least it's a good shade of red. Darn it. I sure wish Genuine made a Buddy with larger wheels.... I love my Buddy. I really do. Genuine really got it right. The Sym is just sort of like... The Camry or Accord of scoots. Funny... I liked the SYMBA u til I tried the People, then I tried the HD 200.

Sorry about your job situation Southerner.... I'm 50... Indonthink age has a lot to do with it. It was not that long ago whe. At 45-50 you were prime... Old enough to have great experience, and young enough to still have the energy and still learn.

Can I??? And still have some oomph just in case I need too???
Ohhhh I do like the looks of the 150 so much better. Not sure that is a very good decision making factor... Although people do it all of the time. Maybe I just need a scooter fleet.

I realize there's a price difference, but, unless it's been discussed already, have you considered a Blur? That ought to be fast enough for you but still quite handy.

Talking about the ad for the Wolf, what makes it so embarrassing is that the one for the Symba (given to me in the same press pack at Dealer Expo) is so darn, well, awesome. It's so good that I actually stuck it in a frame and hung it on the wall.

http://alliancepowersports.com/models/Symba.html

Yeah, it's nerdy, but it captures a feeling (and a look) that I would love to rock down Woodward some morning (of course with an armored jacket, FF helmet and gloves and boots)... perhaps it's the idea of looking like that is so appealing.

Love the "Wolf Classic 150", except for the name.

Black suit, white shirt & thin black tie. Black-rimmed birth control device. I wore that stuff when I was a kid. Didn't feel sexy back then.

Guess I was born too soon.

Motorcycle-USA.com posted a comparo of the SYM Wolf vs the CCW Misfit. It's written by their scooter guy, Gabe Ets-Hokin, so he compares the bikes to scooters rather than the latest GSXR2000RR or whatever. The article is pretty good. My main complaint with it is that I wish it was longer and more detailed.

Interesting review. Thanks for sharing :D
Gads... I have now been looking at the Wolf and bigger scoots as well.... The fee that Missouri slaps on to register a new vehicle ... About 10% of the purchase price.... Makes the Wolf look pretty good. I like the Honda scooter... The ... Oh darn, late night brain fart... But it is just over $5,000. But scooters do have more storage and no shifting. But shifting is not bad.... Except on my own street.... I guess I really would sort of like .... I don't know. I'm so confused

Wow, I love threads about people thinking about new bikes, or new stuff in general. Marketing does matter, even though it should not, just the specs and reviews, but I must admit, every advertisement i have ever seen for a Vespa has always said, "gay," to me. Two guys riding, just "looking" like whatever society has at one point or the other has told me it must "look like." I looked at a Vespa and a Stella before I went with the Buddy, I almost bought the Stella, I was not going to touch a Vespa.

"They look the same."

So said my wife, and she is right, they kinda do, but it was the marketing... I know better. I bought the Buddy because of the modern look and speed. After researching things, specs only, I still don't want a Vespa, but I saw one on the road the other day and that man and his wife did not look like the marketing... stupid preconceived notions!

back when I first wanted to buy another two wheeled vehicle, the Vespa dealer that was in Rock Hill, MO. There were giant posters with shirtless dudes on Vespas. That was seven years ago.

Two shirtless dudes... On a Vespa? What part of Missouri was this? The canoes and banjos part of the state? Did the dudes in the photo have teeth, or could you tell.

Anyone overly concerned with how others may perceive them or anyone thinking they're "gay" should probably eschew scootering. Those perceptions are out there and the people who hold them don't know the difference between a Stella, Vespa and Buddy.

It was in Rock Hill MtH.

I have been on moped and scooters everywhere from 210 lbs to 300 and I doubt I have ever looked "gay" but I am sure I have looked pretty damn funny!

It has never, for me, been about what ANYONE else thinks of me, but how I see me. The point is that marketing as an effect of people.

Beam me up Scooty... I was only joking. I don't even know where Rock Hill is.
Never worried about that stuff either... If I did, I would never had been a Mott the Hoople fan, in WOOD RIVER, where the rest of the scoop was listening to Journey, Rush, and REO Speedwagon. And I still rock the platform boots lol. But I drive a Sebring do I already realize whatever cool I may have has been severely compromised. Oh well.

The majority of those sold by NoHo so far have been to female buyers.

I took one of the NoHo SYM Wolf Classics out for a spin the other day. Followed that up with a test ride of the Royal Enfield. The SYM was a lot of fun! My only complaint was that the riding position seemed a bit cramped. On the plus side the clip-ons are adjustable (2- positions), and it looks like they could be set forward or back to suit rider preference. Other than that I loved it. I've sent links to a couple of my friends who are interested in small motorcycles (and those who aren't... yet).

Nice! Now… where's the Honda Benly in your avatar? :)

I've yet to ride the Enfield. I'm just not that curious about it for some reason.

I've liked the Enfields since I first saw one roaring down Sunset Blvd. I was surprised that I was so much less thrilled to ride it than than I was the SYM Wolf (which really is a lot of fun).

My avatar is a photo of my dad on his bike back in his bachelor/hooligan days. I never actually saw the Benly. He sold it before I was born, but it was cool to find the old pic and digitize it. :-)

I had an offer to buy a similar Honda from a friend. Couldn't then but he still has it so maybe someday I'll take him up on it.

I think the Enfields are probably really solid bikes and I certainly wouldn't bash them because, well, I own a Stella and there are some parallels. Still, for something that size/weight, I think I'd want a little more power to go with all that style.

Has anyone considered the Honda Nighthawk 250? That looks like a great smaller displacement bike.

I've been seeing gaggles of Ninja 250s at the local community college. One of my co-workers even got one. At least I don't feel like a jerk for taking up a covered parking spot with an old Vespa anymore; two bikes in a spot is more palatable to my co-workers!

I really dig the Wolf, but I hava a '64 Benly 90 project to satisfy the "tiny bike" requirement. The TU250 is definitely a looker as well!
At what point does a hobby become an addiction? I'm uncertain, but after the twelfth scooter, it sorta feels like the latter...

Seriously...I've lost count...

Seven mopeds ...that's still manageable...
