blackjack seat + standard chrome rack = ugh

Post by z20k »

So this is really sad news for me as I just got this seat courtesy of noisymilk..

If you have a blackjack or a blackjack seat DO NOT use the standard chrome rear rack. It WILL tear into the upholstery. I don't mean it MAY or MAY NOT . it WILL. I was actually warned that it "could" do this, and have seen other seats do it with a rear rack installed and sure enough after 2 days of having it installed, it tore right into it. :?

I guess that rack is getting removed until I figure something out.

blackjack seat

Our daughter in Austin has hed hers like this for over a year and no tear - of course she sits right up front and only weighs 110 dripping wet.

Weight and how far you push back on the seat woudl play into this. Any Buddy with the rear rack (silver or black chrome) may tear your seat due to the location of the two side bolts - over time we have deveolped small tears on the edge of the seat from this on our seat. There is another post here that goes into detail on options to prevent this.

Sorry it got you!

Yeah, I'm about 188-190 and ride pretty far back so after just two days it's already pretty bad.. I'm definitely taking the rack off ASAP because the seat is more important to me than the rack, I'll just go back to using my backpack.
