An observation about front racks & speed

I don't carry stuff on my front rack too often, but I just realized (it has happened twice now while I was paying attention) that if I am carrying something larger (though not necessarily heavy) on my front rack it messes with the air flow. What I mean by that is normally it is very calm behind my windshield, but when I have stuff on my front rack I notice quite a bit of turbulence.

By larger, I mean maybe 10" tall by 14" wide. I don't think depth matters, but it's been like 10-14" deep. My headlight has not been obscured.

Anyone else notice turbulence in this scenario?

I don't have a front rack, but it makes sense that you'd get a disruption of air flow that way.
