The shortest day... And longest nite.

Post by still shifting »

Will any one have a party or attend a party to find solace in the long nite? I have several friends born around this time so a gathering is easy. Let there be light and laughter and affirmations of life! R

The "bright side" is that days start getting longer after this.

Happy Winter Solstice, my favorite holiday. I always dread the Summer Solstice because that means the days are going to start getting shorter and winter is on its way.

I understand there's a major holiday that was scheduled around this time of year (despite the fact that originally it was celebrated in the Spring) as a way of adding some festivity to the season. I think it's called "New Year's Day". ;)

For me, there are 52 shortest days of the year - Sundays. Having to go to work on Mondays makes every Sunday shoot by as fast as the last day of a kid's summer vacation.

We (The Adventurists) are riding until midnight so that if the world really does come to an end we can try to take our scooters with us.

(If it doesn't end, we have a celebratory ride scheduled for the next day. Win, win.)

That sounds pretty darn awesome. I'm gonna be an idiot and ride up to Phoenix, ride long with a scooter club Christmas lights ride and then ride back. Should be about 250 miles and six hours. If I'm lucky, I'll be home in time for the end of the world (in my local timezone). :D
At what point does a hobby become an addiction? I'm uncertain, but after the twelfth scooter, it sorta feels like the latter...

Seriously...I've lost count...

Seven mopeds ...that's still manageable...

^^^ Thanks!... I had three dates picked and my wife liked that one the best. I'm kind of an astronnomy geek, so the longest night of the year was a good choice
