Gloves UGH!
OK, So I am trying to decide what gloves to get. I live in upstate NY, and believe it or not, it gets hot up here in the summer. 90-95 degree days are not unheard of, and the humidity is just killer. So... I want some gloves that will offer protection, but will not boil my hands like a pair of pink lobsters.
I have been looking at Carazzo gloves, and was hoping that someone can share their experiences with them.
Enzo: looks cool enough, but are they any better protection than any other leather, kid or goatskin glove?
Urbano: I was leaning towards these, but I have seen several internet reports of them simply falling apart after a few months. Also, no palm pads...
Carbone: It looks like these will protect, but are they cool enough in hot weather?
I am asking if anyone has actually owned any of these gloves and can share their experiences with them. Mostly: Do they protect, and are they cool in hot weather?
Thanks!!

for summer, of all cheap/dumb things, the best out of several pairs I tried was simple Olympia gloves, which run @25-30 clams. I did go through my first pair in a summer, but the 2nd pair seems to have reinforcements around the thumb/forefinger so they don't wear out so fast.
I liked the feel of the corazzo gloves, but I too have heard they don't last for the price.
Icon makes some perf. leather ones that aren't as padded, but seem to hold up just fine too. I think it was of the 'stealth' line.

At the risk of flames for not-the-proper-gear, I'm quite fond of riding in handball gloves in the summer months. They're made from decent leather, which is far preferable to a synthetic in a friction slide, and have vent holes on the back for some air. They're also very well padded in the palm, which makes longer rides more comfortable. I wear a pair of Thinsulate gloves over these when it's cold.
HarborFreight has a similar glove under their Western Safety brand.

i have a pair of the Icon perforated gloves that seem to be made really well and are fairly cool in the summer. liked the Corazzo at first, but no, unlike their jackets which are fantastic, i did not care for the way the gloves lasted. mine looked like crap after three months. i also have several pairs of Triumph gloves that I love, and the price is very decent. They feel great, hold up well, and offer a lot of protection. However, they may look a bit overkill. It does not bother me, but I have one pair that are gauntlets. great for cold weather. the shorter ones are fine in the summer.

I hear the Corazzo Enzos wear much better than the Urbanos.
I've been through many, many, many pairs of gloves and my big issue with summer/perforated gloves is durability, even for many of the big-name brands. After spending $150+ on several $30 pairs of gloves I wound up tossing, I invested $90 in some Icon Rimfire 1000 gloves. LOVE THEM. Fairly cool, tons of protection.

Because these are leather, they were VERY snug when I first got them. To the point where I was wondering if I'd ordered the wrong size. I used a few methods (wet, stick screwdriver handles, etc. in fingers, leave overnight) to stretch them out and now the fit is great!
I know a lot of people who use non-motorcycle gloves for riding. While some might offer as much protection as casual riding gloves, few will offer as much as good riding gloves. In general, I look for double or triple stitching/reinforced seams, knuckle and finger padding and protection, palm padding/protection, comfort. Reflective elements are a plus, but hard to find.

For hot weather riding one of my favorites is Cortech DX 2 Gloves

I used to really like Scorpion Cool Hand gloves but my with my last pair they didn't last long and tore on the left (clutch) hand.

Good thread. I am shopping now for some better gloves. Oddly enough of all my protective gear my gloves are the least protective — just nice soft dear skin gauntlets but with no armor or other protective features. Extremely comfortable, better than nothing in a fall, but certainly not all a glove can be. So now I'm going to the other extreme and getting these. They should be good for spring/summer/fall riding. I especially like the webbing they have between the pinky and ring fingers to protect the pinky in case of a spill.

I'm liking these gloves. Seem great for me in the hot weather, they are in fact what the military issued my son when he deployed to the desert. My pair have lasted me 3 or 4 seasons so far.....
