Buddy 50 DOT Front Blinker Bulbs

Post by DudeDog »

Replacing all my turn signal bulbs with LEDs and bringing the deadlights alive...

Looks like I ordered the wrong bulbs to replace my front DOT blinkers. The ones I got are too long and the plastic cover will not fit over it.

I have the Jamstrait LED bulbs from AutoZone in the rear and they fit nicely. I wonder if the same bulbs can be used in the front with no problems. The only difference is that I'll need amber instead of red.

I have 45HP-LED BA15S tower bulbs in the deadlights now. Maybe they will fit in the DOT spots and then I can use the longer ones in the deadlights.

We'll find out tomorrow when I get around to working on it again.

Mine signal lamps had a goofy offset for the dimples on the light base. I ordered some 1157 from superbrightleds. They didn't fit so I dremeled off one of the dimples. Worked fine. Ordered the 45 smd bulbs. They were not worth $25 each.

The DOT bulbs are 1156 BAU15s. The rear and deadlights are 1156 BA15s. The difference is the BAU15s bulbs have off-set pins. The pins are what lock the bulbs in place.

As far as depth goes, if I recall correctly, both the rear and deadlight bulbs should be under 2" deep. Not sure about the DOT bulbs.

The bulb issue is sorted out and all are working.

I did have one question about the installation of the Flasher Relay, being a little ignorant about electrical wire color coding. The ground wire is easy - it's green. I assumed the power wire was black and connected it to the plug labeled "P".

Everything is working as designed with the BOB Combo package. Can I assume I hooked it up correctly?
