Well, the damn server outage may have ruined D3K (Day of 3,000).
Maybe tonight, maybe tomorrow.

Yummy, Joan's, Auntie Em's, Big Sugar… I love 'em all. Just not those franchise places opening up almost as fast as yogurt places. I went into a new one near me on their first day and they didn't have all the flavors because the truck hadn't come yet. Uh… truck? The cupcake I got tasted like plastic.nuttmeg75 wrote:Will that be a Yummy cupcake? I usually end up getting the Peanut Butter Bomb.ericalm wrote:Yes, we're closing in on 3k. Membership has slowed, in part because of lack of Buddy availability at dealers. Now it seems to be picking up again as the '09s arrive. This is actually the time of year when it starts to slow after the summer rush, but I think we'll have a late summer/early fall rush this year.
Because this year is special.

Hmmmm, I thought I was member #1152 but it appears I'm #3224...? Can your member number change? Also, is there any easier way to find it than scrolling through all the membership pages?
There's no way to search for yourself or to advance the page without (1) scroll to the bottom, (2) click the next (or previous) page, and (3) repeat. Egads....

Probably to many uninterested members but you know what would be real cool? Each member give a dollar towards a new Buddy, free Dealer services, and a gas card to a well deserved in NEED person. There must be at least a few candidates out their you know whom life threw an unfair curve ball at.Someone who needs our help.
I think it would be a great way to celebrate the success of this forum and Genuine scooters.

Agreed, but I would hate to be in the position of awarding that fund, especially these days, when so many people have fallen on hard times. I'd hate to be the one to say one member was more worthy or deserving than another.BuddyLicious wrote:Probably to many uninterested members but you know what would be real cool? For those who've been victims of disasters or are in need of scooter-related relief, there's http://scooter-relief.org/ but they appear to have been inactive this year.

I got an idea for that, especially around big rally times (like Amerivespa)! I was reading about how a Kymco rider befell a strange incident where her scooter just went up in flames on the way there, and was thinking:
What if, during Amerivespa rally time, we set up an "emergency scooter fund" for those brave enough to ride all the way to the national gathering? Just have people who are riding there register, and if something happens and they end up suffering catastrophe, there's a bit of a safety net (even if it's after the fact). It may help encourage others to take that big jump on an adventure that normally they may be a bit hesitant about doing. And, it would be some cool press for MB to show just how much family Genuine Scooter riders got.
This way, it's not quite a "hardship raffle" or something, but more like a "AAA for Genuines" kind of thing.
Just a thought...
