@#&%* disc lock!

Post by Stilts »

Been fighting with the Trimax disc lock on my Stella for the past ninety minutes. From what this layman sees, the spring that holds the pin in place is either broken or no longer connected to the lock/push button mechanism. The key appears to work fine but the shaft no longer locks in place and just moves in and out freely, leaving the pin stuck in an "on" position.

Trimax is of no help as they keep normal office business hours. Called three local locksmiths, two of whom don't know what to do and the third (who gave me the numbers of the other two) can't get to me until probably Monday.

I knew this day was going to be bad when I saw a cat get run over by a tow truck right in front of me. And I really have somewhere to be tonight and the wife has the car for the evening.

Ugh.

Any ideas on how to get this #&*@ thing off my bike?

$30 worth of Dremel metal cutters later, some blood (no fear, I just have eczema on my fingers and they crack), and some cussing later, it's off.

However, when putting the front wheel back on, I noticed that one of the lug bolts was coming THROUGH the nut; I wasn't even turning that hard (I had just met real resistance) and all of a sudden it got REAL easy and I knew that wasn't a good sign. Upon looking, I noticed that where all the other lug bolts were flared out flush with the other side, this one was partially through and had shavings.

Pardon me for a moment.

Dude that sucks. Well if it makes ya feel any better I had a bad day too. First the drum circle I was in was suppose to have 9 people and only a noob showed up and the organizer never showed up either. Then I stopped at the store to get soup for my grandma and these girls hit my brand new Stella. I had no where to go cos I stoped to let people cross in front of me then this purple scion backed into me. No damage though so that was a good thing. It was like an attack by grimmis!
