Loud Buddy 125
I just traded my '09 Buddy 50 for a new 125. The power differential is terrific! I'm being careful about the break-in. At idle and cruise the new scooter is quiet in comparison to the 50. But while accelerating, the 125 is really loud. It's only got 60 miles. Is the loud clattering under power normal?

It's hard to say from here without hearing it, but "loud clattering" under load usually is not normal. The thing is, you're used to riding a bike that doesn't have valve gear; lifters, rocker arms, cam chain, and all the extra machinery associated with a four-stroke. It may be that the sound is perfectly normal. About the only way to tell is to compare your bike to a properly running Buddy or have your dealer give it a listen and see what they think.
My second thought:
My first thought above assumes that the noise is coming from the motor. Usually, new CVT transmissions are quiet and trouble-free, but it's certainly possible that something in the CVT isn't right, a roller weight has gotten sideways or a clutch pad isn't positioned right. That kind of thing can cause a bunch of racket under load.
Both the likely culprits I'm thinking about are no big deal to resolve, but definitely should get fixed by your dealer right away. Hope you're happily four-stroking around soon!
