Going up the PCH, Any advice?

After Amerivespa, my wife and I will be driving up the PCH (alas, not riding, although the scoot will be with us.)

I have 9 days after Amerivespa before I have to be back at work and I'm looking for ideas on places to visit, places to eat and/or places to ride.

I think I will be making time to ride the Avenue of the Giants up north. Any other ideas?

I love quaint little diners with good food. Any suggestions?

Yea, you should have a scenic drive up PCH to Big Sur, thru the City, into true Norcal to Avenue of the Giants. I'm jealous just thinking of it.

Sidenote: I noticed OP used, "the PCH",to refer to Pacific Coast Highway. As a native of Long Beach, we always called it, "PCH", no "the" in front of, I did hear a native Norcal person use the same terminology after he moved back up here. Have things changed since I moved up here 12 years ago? We always called the freeways, "the 405" or "the 5" though. Sorry. Just wondering.

Neptune's Net in Malibu is a fried seafood and motorcyclists haven! Cant miss it, it's right on the highway and usually has a parking lot full of bikes of many types.

If you make it as far as Klamath Ca ( not far from Ave of the Giants) the Trees of Mystery is a nice stop...allow about 4 hours.

The Samoa Cookhouse in Eureka is a famous place to eat. And eat....
And eat.

I'm jealous too, it's been a long time since I was up that way. How far north are you going? Have you seen Crater Lake?

Santa Barbara is beautiful. You could hit the Urban Wine Trail downtown. You can walks to at least a dozen tasting rooms. The chamber of commerce has maps and there are coupons, typically 2 for one tasting which come out to about $5 a piece, and you typically get to keep the glass! Definitely a great place to savor coastal Ca at its best.

I live right off PCH in the central Monterey Bay Area, lots to do and see. PCH cuts right through Santa Cruz and would make a great stop.

If you want great seafood, stop in Moss Landing and eat at Phil's Fish Market restaurant. Kind of a landmark in the area with Food Network personalities stopping by there all the time.

If you didn't get your fill of scooters, you could always hit up Route 66 Modern Classics in Marina del Rey.

Santa Barbara is really pleasant. This mission in Ventura is nice too.

Cambria is also a quaint little town.
