Crashed Dumped Scooter & Won't start

Hello BuddyLand:

Today, while riding my Buddy 125, I crashed, dumped, and I am blessed to be still alive............
I am not hurt, but now my scooter won't start.

Immediately after the crash & dump, I got up, and continue on for the next 15 miles on my scooter. A couple hours later, I came back to ride it and it would not start.

It has gas and oil in it. Does anyone have any idea why it wont start, even after the crash, it went for 15 more miles OK?

Sorry to hear about your accident. The most important thing is that you're OK.

It's possible that the problem is unrelated to what happened. Can you describe what happens when you try to start it?

Sometimes there is an issue with the carb float and valve assembly. Might try removing the under-seat tub, draining the carb fuel bowl, and tapping on the carb with a plastic screwdriver handle.

There's a chance that after sitting for a while, it'll be okay.

The usual reason for this is gas getting into someplace it's not supposed to be and causing some type of vacuum/vapor lock. I could try to explain the 15 minutes, but any explanation would be a stretch, yet maybe remotely possible in some way…

Yes, I went down on the left side of the scooter, and it was slightly tilted toward the upside down from horizontal. What does that mean to you?

Thanks for mentioning about the carb. I have taken it apart several times.

Might be true. I saw a bubble inside the clear plastic fuel filter case. However, a day later, still wont start.

It depressed me how stupid I was even after all that I have learned and experienced. I crossed into the opposite lane on a 2 lane country road with lots of cars. I could have been wiped out flat, then I be with the Angels. Not my time yet....I am glad to be alive.

Airbox is on the left. I think fuel ran down into the air box and pooled. Scooter restarted because the motor was hot. Wouldn't start later because autochoke plus pooled fuel flooded it. I went down on left right side and it took 24 hours and 100 kicks to start.

That happened to me too. I had to buy a new (clean/dry) air filter. Once I replaced it I was fine and it started right away.

It could just be as simple as some gas getting into the air filter canister and then taking a few minutes to soak the filter (and choke the motor). It's not hard to open and check this. I also vote with tortoise that you might have a problem with the carb float and needle assembly getting knocked out of position. That would cause the carb to flood once you stopped because all the fuel in the fuel line downstream of the petcock would rush into the float bowl. Also, no big deal to fix.
