Kymco People GT 200i

Post by skipper20 »

I know, this is a Modern Buddy forum but it seems to appeal to other scooter brands too so I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience, good or bad, with the subject scoot. Yes, I'm still looking for a replacement for my vintage '87 Honda Helix 250 (on Monday I'm dropping the asking price to $1395 w/o the roll bag & gel cushion) and I'm drawn to the subject because the 205cc engine size is a nice fit, the EFI is a plus and 4 valves should make for smoother running. And, it's not bad looking either.

Bill: I own the Kymco GT300i & really like it. It's a real smooth scooter. I wouldn't buy (or even consider) the GT200i myself as it only a few hundred dollars less. The 300 has almost 29HP & the 200 runs a tad over 21HP. Just for resale alone the 300 is worth it.

It's a great engine. Plenty of torque, top-end is around 80'ish. Love the 16' wheels @ higher speeds as well. My only problem is with the instrument layout...Kymco could have designed it better, It's not horrible, just that there could have be more information & a cleaner look. The Piaggio BV350 has a much cleaner layout.

You really can't go wrong with the GT300i as it's one of the best reviewed scooters out there. If you can get it discounted, even better! Good luck & let us know what you have purchased.

I have the 300 gti also same body 200 is abt 20 or 30 lbs lighter. It's a great ride just no storage under the seat. Floorboard is nice flat just needs a windshield from scooterville $170 to be perfect
what did you trade the day for?

It is pretty cramped for the long of leg. When the local dealer first got the GT-300 on the floor, I was ready to buy. Then I sat on it and found it to be too tight. I'm 6'3 w/ 34" Nissan.

But if it fits, it is a nice looking scoot, but spendy. ScooterMASS mentioned the BV350; it is a great scoot (so far, for me)
