[NBR] Burgman 650 Review

Post by Rob »

An interesting review of the 2013 Burgman 650 from MotorcycleUSA.com.

It received a little facelift and is a bit more appealing, but outside of 1 or 2 bikes, in general, the maxiscoot styling just doesn't appeal to me

Suzuki has added some interesting features including a manual shift mode (not sure of the practicality), but it also comes with a $11K price tag. As mentioned in this article, I think I'd opt for the BMW 650 at a grand less.

I had an 07 Burgman 650 Ex that I rode for 37K miles. It is an incredible machine. The main problem is the ECVT transmission, which allows for the simulated (and pretty useless) manual shifting which has always been included on any B650 starting in 03.

My clutch bearing went out at 24K miles $3,000 repair (covered under extended warranty.

At 37K I started hearing bearing noises again and traded for a C650GT. Suzuki has know about these problems for years and has not done anything about them.

After 50K miles a Burgman 650 is pretty much a disposable scooter. If it breaks it's not worth repairing.

The BMW blows the Burgman away.
