My New "LOL" LED tail light

Post by SonnyD »

I'm very Impressed.....I got this one off of Ebay for about 26 bucks delivered. It was listed as for an 07-08. I never, that I at least recall ever got a definitive "Yes, it will fit without any modifications at all" reply.. Lot's of "It should" or "It should, but you may have to change the plug", or you have to change the mount" to "It won't fit at all"... So I figured what the heck for the money, what have I got to lose if it doesn't. Figured if it didn't, someone some day, some where, would probably need one... Well to make a "long story short"....It was a PAIN IN THE BUTT.....NOT!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL....I simply removed the 06 light, and installed this one...No alignment or any other problems...side by side un installed, they look identical....so If any of you are thinking of putting the Buddy LED tail light in an 06, it will work perfect with no mods what so ever....Nice and BRIGHT........ I Love it.....

Thanks for posting that. I'd like to get that LED tail lamp and some LED bulbs for my dead lights.

Your Welcome... I ran an LED bulb in the tail light for a while, but it didn't seem to be all that good, even though it cost as much as what I paid for the whole tail light..... I think the place I got this one from still has one left...pretty quick shipping too. Beats the heck out of 65.00 dollars or so a new one is....but definitely worth the upgrade.... LED's in the deadlights is a nice upgrade too......

You can get LEDs in the right bayonet mount from your FLAPS for less than $10.00 each. I mounted amber ones in my 170i's deadlight conversion earlier this year and they're still going strong.

I wanted to switch my Kymco Yager's taillamp to LED as well. Tried a few different LED "bulbs" but the performance was crap. I did well with a CREE Q5 LED assembly that had a lens on the end and LED pairs around the base. It's very visible and as I'm told, makes the taillamp look "like a Cylon eye without the moving bit".

Check Ebay for a seller named DT Autotech and search their store for CREE Q5 1157 to find the bulb I used. A pair was nearly $23, but I think it works well and I have a spare on-hand now.
At what point does a hobby become an addiction? I'm uncertain, but after the twelfth scooter, it sorta feels like the latter...

Seriously...I've lost count...

Seven mopeds ...that's still manageable...
