variator derestriction help

Post by quinn0724 »

so i decided to take on one last project before the end of the season. at the beginning of summer I took out the exhaust restriction on my buddy 50. I loved the boost in power and now I want to do the variator restriction. I went and got an impact wrench (after countless efforts to get the lug nut with out one) and I was able to get the lug nut and kickstart paw off no problem. however, for the life of me I cannot get the flywheel off. There is nothing in front of it to block it, it just wont budge whatsoever. Ive watched the dealer prep video and the flywheel on that just slides right off with no effort. Why is mine stuck?

Please help and Thank You

update. So i settled down and stopped cussing and I was able to get it off. However I take it off to find out that it is not restricted (started cussing again). Why would the dealer take off that restriction and not the exhaust one? Well looks like I just wasted my day.

Now Im having trouble getting everything back. some of the roller weights popped out in the process. Now when I go to reassemble it doesnt seem to slide back far enough. Any suggestions as to why?

thanks again

You may have the roller retention plate on backwards.
