Starting Issue

Post by Colinchristian »

Basics- 170 wouldn't start, battery clearly was deadish. Next to nothing would happen. Drawn out Chuuuugs.
Got a new battery, AGM, charged. Installed the battery, try to start, battery is clearly charged, but engine won't start. Rapid chug chug chug chug chug.

I know next to nothing about engines and this sort of thing. I'm quite a ways from a dealer and I'm actually rather worried about this.

Any ideas?

After installing the new battery did you reset the ECU? I don't know about the Buddy FI but on the Blur 220i what you need to do is hold the throttle fully open, turn the key to on, wait for the whirring noise to stop, turn key to off and release throttle.

Someone more familiar with the 170s may have more info
