tgb vs buddy

Post by Kaje »

I was wondering how a tgb laser or sunset 150 compares to a buddy 125/150 as far as build quality and performance. They seem to be a little cheaper than buddy's and have a 2 year warranty as well. I'm going to a scooter shop that sells both buddy's and tgb scooters and just wanted a heads up before deciding which is right for me.

I tested the R9 TGB before I bought my Buddy. I thought it was a good product. Had plenty of pep...not quite as fast as the Buddy, but darn close. It handled well, was the right price and had a comparable warranty. HOWever...I did NOT like the seating position. The floorboards are quite high as is the seat height. This gave it a higher center of gravity than the Buddy, which I thought would be detrimental to my blasting through canyon corners. I understand from other tests that it handles just fine...I just didn't like the feel.

If you are somewhat short-legged, it might not be the right mount for you.

The shop I bought my buddy from (Metro in Cincinnati) also had the TGB Laser and other scoots as well. I asked the dealer what he was riding - a buddy. That said a lot about what he thought about the TGB's build quality and performance vs. the buddy's. The TGB didn't sound like a bad scoot at all - the buddy was just enough of a difference for Seth to ride that instead. I'm assuming you're going to check out Metro as well. I know Seth and Dave will be real upfront with you about the quality of scoot you're interested in.
